..
I have had several enquiries over the past few weeks asking how come the "Friedman Family Outsiders" (Carol my wife, Zev my 28-y-old son, and I) never select even one horse in common, and how come they are always the same races. Even though I have answered this question a number of times over the years (most recently about 6 months ago), we obviously have new subscribers all the time, so I will give the explanation again now.

Every Friday night the three of us get together, after each of us has seperately analysed the form, to come up with 3 OUTSIDERS in each race that we believe can upset the favourites.

This does not mean that we believe that the favourites can't win, but as it is a well-known fact in racing that favourites only win 33% of the time at best, we are looking at the other 67% of the races (if only we knew which races they were!)

Sometimes we come up with more than 3 horses, but we always narrow it down to 3 because the races we pick are the legs of the extra & daily doubles races in NSW so we want people (including us) to be able to couple our selections up, as well as to take trifectas; and even "first fours" which numerous of our followers take with their own selection(s).

We have a system of determining who takes ownership of which selections, as we also separately enter several tipping competitions around the world (including here in Australia) based on returns each way (win & place) rather than numbers of winners.

In Australia a placing is 1st, 2nd or 3rd, whereas in some countries placings also include 4th.

One of us used to consistantly come 1st, 2nd or 3rd in several of the competitions which ran over a period of 2 to 4 months each; but over the past 9 or so months we have slipped down a bit; but no doubt we will start to come good again soon.

We do not "sell" our selections, as we do it for fun, so those that like to critisise can simply not bother to even look, as we have quite a sufficient number of followers ( a hell of a lot in fact) who want us to continue, so we will.

We wish you all great punting, and keep those e-mails coming in as we really love hearing from you.

Cheers,
Martin, Carol & Zev

Martin, Carol and Zev,
Just a short thank you for your tipping selections every weekend...keep it up!
Because of kids winter sports recently, I have not been following racing as much as I would like and have been concentrating more on sports bets...thanks to you William, XTP and all the other contributors!
