i thought maybe we could have a discussion about the best composite teams ever in cricket or rugby...my thoughts so far:
XI - J.Hobbs L.Hutton D.Bradman G.Pollock V.Richards G.Sobers A.Gichrist S.Warne M.Marshall M.Muralitharan D.Lillee XV - Os du rant Sean Fitzpatrick ??? Colin Meads John Eales Zinzan Brooke Abdel Benazzi Michael Jones ??? Barry JOhn Jonah Lomu Tim Horan Phillipe Sella David Campese Serge Blanco Either of these are open for criticism...that's hwat this forums about isn;t it??? Chuck [ This Message was edited by: Chuck_3000 on 2004-07-31 22:09 ] |

J.Hobbs
L.Hutton D.Bradman G.Pollock V.Richards G.Sobers A.Gichrist S.Warne M.Marshall M.Muralitharan D.Lillee I would leave Muralitharan out and put in a S.pollock of J.kallis just for the all round ability and there is no real need for a 2nd spinner. This is my opinion anyway . |

I would leave Muralitharan out on principle.

Yeah, i thought of that, but i think it adds quite a bit of variety, and if you have sobers as 3rd change then it seems no problem to have 2 spinners...If i did replace murali, it would probably be HOLDING, SPOFFORTH or LOHMANN (lohmann is basically unheard of, but he took 100 wickets in not many matches, at an average of 10.75)

I was only interested in cricket during the Lillee era.
Isn't Gilchrist a wicketkeeper?.And wouldn't Rodney Marsh be preferred?.Or should I stick to AFL?. |

Remember that time swampy broke his bat in a one day game.

HEY CHUCK, From a Kiwi view point do ya think we could get Richard Hadlee in there, or Cris Cairns who now holds the world record for 6's in a match....as for Rugby the mind boggles, for a start unfortunately Eales ( into the reserves)must go and in MUST go Willie-John Mcbride, no doubt. Half back Danie Craven ( showing me age here ) and I've just been called for tea, so cheers but hey, there'll be plenty of posts to shut us both down. Chuck, what a ************ good post. |

Don't know Craven too well, but what i do know is that john eales was a star player. He just got rated "the best wallaby of all time" recently, and simply dominated the game at his peak...i still think he should be there
Chuck p.s. who do you think should be the tight head? |
