And I assume you weren't pleased about that? You don't actually have to bet on it, you know.

I live in Qld and we've never had Quadrellas up here, but from what I've seen, it seems to be a tradition in Victoria that everyone has a go at the 'Quaddie'. Is that right? Used to be the same thing in Qld with the Treble, but that bet type has really lost it's popularity.

You are right Sportz. I don't have to bet on the quaddie but I seem to have a masochistic fascination with them.
Snagged one once for an outlay of $12-00 and have been hooked ever since.
I find it hard to believe that the race clubs are not in cahoots with the TAB and are probably dictated to about which races to programme in the quaddie.
Quite often now, maidens are programmed into the quaddie even when there are better class races available.
It is a real conundrum for punters when a lot of entries in the maiden event are 1st. starters or resuming from a spell.
I wrote on this forum once that when a trainer turns up with an unraced, untrialled in public maiden and the horse anchors the quadrella at big odds and wins, he and a select few are in a privileged position compared to the general punting public.
My point was that I see no difference in this practice and that of insider trading on the stock market for which Rene Rivken was sentenced to gaol.
Cheers

Can I add that the dividend provided by the Quaddie, often pays more than double the all-up prices of the individual winners.

You are right regarding the dividends Mooee, mainly because a lot of investors spend too much putting field legs in.
Last week I snagged a $247-00 dividend for an outlay of $4-50.
My selections were 3 horses in the first leg, 1 in the second and third leg and three in the last leg.
The winner's prices were, $3-30, $3-90, $4-90 and $3-00.
The dividend for a 50 cent all up bet would have been $94-00.
I received double the normal dividend because one selection was scratched and I went on to the sub which was also one of my selections.
The sub won.

Well more good fortune to you Imagele!
I was fortunate as well last night.
I spent a dollar on Ipswich greyhounds,taking 1,2,1,1.
Dividends were about 3.20,1.50,8.80,3.90
That allups to about $84
I got a return of $430
There is something in this that I need to get into I believe.
Unpopular meetings invested on by uninformed punters.
