Default Geelong tip for the day.

Geelong R6. DELPHAMI.
You can only believe what you see.
Rocketed home from near last in the short Pakenham straight last run to just fail.
Has been scratched since when track conditions deteriorated.
Has a placing behind the smart Smart and Mighty to it's credit last time in this course, class and dist.

Geelong R6. DELPHAMI.

You are probably right, but I am backing Norton Creek and maybe That's Paleface in the Quin. and one of them for place. Don't know which yet? depends on price! As far as barrier goes they are in the same boat.
Cheers!

Delphami, well supported into favouritism on supertab.
Always back and wide and didn't ping in the straight.
A bit perplexed about Melb. racing at the moment. Horses seem to be jumping classes with regularity.
1st. and 2nd. in this race had won C1's at their last starts.
Yesterday we had a maiden winning a C1 and Flash in the Pan, a maiden winner, jumping straight into a C4.
Previous form, 10 starts, 1 win, 1 placing.
Maybe the computerised handicapping system has changed the face of form study.

I don't think computerised handicapping system has changed anything. It merely speeded up the process.
Remember! The old adage "garbage in garbage out" still holds true.

Imagele!
I am sorry I upset you! I wish we had something like Pal talk so that I could explain to you what I meant. Obviously you are annoyed the horse you picked did not win, but on class it never had a chance and that is the only criteria I take into account! Sometimes I win sometimes I loose, but for me it is only a pastime.
Hope you will pick lots winners in the future.
Cheers!

Cool

Iomaca
How the hell did you read into my post that you had upset me.
I can assure you that I was neither upset by your post nor the fact that Delphami did not win.

My post was actually an attempt at humour.
Culd you explain to me why Delphami was allocated top weight but did not have the class to win.
I obviously have a lot to learn despite 40 years on the punt.

Imagele,

My analysis of it is this - the winner had 5 career starts for two wins, but had raced in much tougher grade in town at 2 of her 3 unplaced runs.

Today, as you noted, she skipped a grade and met a field rated a couple of lengths stronger than her last start win. However, she did have improving ratings and was well-weighted after the claim for James Mott (thereby dropping 1.5kgs on her last-start win).

It was a tricky race with a few chances, including the horse you selected and Michelle Payne's mount Bettencourt. Bettencourt had won 2 from 3, and had missed the start at her unplaced run. Like the winner she had improving ratings. I probably would have gone for her.

Anyway...that's racing.

Cheers,

F

Thanks for your reply.
Just for the record, after analysing the form for this race through the agency of "Ozeform" form search and applying the ratings allocated for their most recent runs, these are the figures I have on my sheet.
COUNTRY JOY-98 + CLAIM 2 =100
BETTENCOURT- 98
THATS PALEFACE-98
DELPHAMI-96
I did not use the last rating given to Delphami at Pakenham because I considered that race to be a bit below par.
I used the rating earned for it's placing behind Smart and Mighty last prep. in similar class over the same distance.
On that basis my analysis was right but my prejudices took over.
I will be watching out for Delphami in similar class when the weight appears more favourable.
