Default Metro/Country tracks

Can someone help me and tell me if the following tracks are considered country or metropolitan meetings?

Belmont, Canberra, Canterbury, Cheltenham, Cranbourne, Devonport, Gawler, Geelong, Gold Coast, Hawkesbury, Hobart, Ipswich, Launceston, Morphettville, Newcastle, Pakenham, Quenbeyan, Rosehill, Victoria Park, Yarra Valley, Werribee, Wyong.

Cheers,

Chrome - those gradings are not quite correct. Devenport and Hobart are both considered metro tracks (believe it or not), while all of the others are considered provincial tracks, with the exception of Queanbeyan, which is the only country graded track among the list.

Should have added that my reference for those gradings is the master list maintained by the AAP racing department.

Just a clarification re Devonport - according the the Tasmanian Thoroughbred Racing Council, this track is graded as being provincial.

Metro tracks are:

Sydney: Randwick; Rosehill; Canterbury; Warwick Farm
Melbourne: Flemington; Caulfield; Moonee Valley; Sandown-Lakeside; Sandown-Hillside
Brisbane: Eagle Farm; Doomben
Adelaide: Morphettville; Victoria Park; Cheltenham Park
Perth: Ascot; Belmont Park
Tasmania: Hobart (Elwick); Launceston (Mowbray)

Hi La Mer,

Of course you are correct with Launceston and Hobart, according to many sources as well, however, I would not class the grades of racing at those venues as "Metro Class".

Perhaps I should have included it was my opinion and not strictly by the book.

The following list of all (I think I've captured the lot) provincial tracks in Australia. If they are not listed in this one or the previous one listing the metro tracks, then all others are considered country tracks.

However, Chrome's words need heeding because some of the tracks would run a better standard of races then others, even though they may be graded the same, i.e. as a general rule races run at the Adelaide metro tracks would be considered at a lower level than those run at either the Sydney or Melbourne metro tracks.

ALBANY; BALAKLAVA; BALLARAT; BENDIGO; BUNBURY; CANBERRA
COLAC; CRANBOURNE; GOLD COAST; GAWLER; GOSFORD
GERALDTON; GEELONG; HAWKESBURY; IPSWICH; KALGOORLIE
KEMBLA GRANGE; KILMORE; KYNETON; MURRAY BRIDGE
MOE; MORNINGTON; MT BARKER; NARROGIN; NEWCASTLE
NORTHAM; PAKENHAM; PINJARRA; SALE; SEYMOUR; STRATHALBYN
SUNSHINE COAST; WERRIBEE; WARRNAMBOOL; WYONG; YARRA GLEN

One possible exception to the above list is Scone, which while listed as a country track normally runs meeting up to provincial standard.
