Although theres enough room for different codes of footy here in AUS I really believe that in few years or more Rugby league is going to end up as the Poor Relation in the eastern states ....the way they have and are promoting the AFL is going to be the undoing of RL ......I came to Brisbane in 2001 and drove cabs for a while (a good social barometer)and I was absolutely astounded at the people who had taken to the LIONS(winning helps) and despised the BRONCOS .Im relatively new to taking a solid interest in the game but it is a great spectacle ........I think( and Im generalizing here )that
RL can tend to be a working class Sport whereas AFL seems to transcend those boundaries due i think to the its total absorbtion by Victorian society as more than just a game but as a cultural association with "YOUR TEAM" from cradle to Grave . be they Garbos or Grandmas. .....But as a betting proposition They wont be getting anymore than a tenner off me at anyone time for a while and only so I can watch my money go round although Im told last year wasnt a good year for consistency and it was out of the norm (dont know if thats true though) . And while Im here ...EDDIE McGUIRE would have to be the most hateable man on television.....anyway Ive cocked my leg on enough trees round here tonite Im off to the UK to see what the Gooners have got to say about the weekends soccer matches .....now theres some sports passion
