![]() Anyone having a crack at the quaddie at Wodonga?
Check out the 1st leg. A $20000 2y.o. maiden. Six 1st. starters, all untrialled in public. If ever there was any doubt that rank and file punters are treated as absolute fools, then this programming removes all doubt. When Supertab moved the quaddie legs to the last 4 races on the programme, there was a general feeling that maiden races would no longer be part of this form of betting. Lo and behold at Yarra Valley on monday. up pops a maiden race in the 1st leg and up pops an unraced, untrialled in public 5yo, at odds of around $26-00. A nice start to the quaddie for those with inside knowledge. Today at Wodonga, a C1 where horses have revealed form has been overlooked in favour of the 2yo maiden. It seems race clubs are being dictated to by the TAB regarding their programming to swell the quadrella pools and turn them into as much of a lottery as possible. ![]() It's a $20000 race though, so it's obviously supposed to be a top quality 2YO maiden. As I've said before, nobody forces anybody to bet on it.

![]() What has the value of a race got to do with the predictability of the outcome?

![]() Nothing, but it's got more the twice the prizemoney of any other race on the program. Would be a bit strange to have it as R2 or something.
The main problem that I see is that 2YOs in Victoria don't have to trial publicly which I think is a joke. Last edited by Sportz : 22nd April 2005 at 08:02 AM. |

![]() O.K. I know it's not really a maiden.
It just turned out that way. It has been won in the past by some handy horses including Neprotain and Mr. O'hara. The race can not be a betting proposition however, with so many unraced youngsters with their potential hidden from the public. It would be fair to say that the Cox stable targets this race and has 3 newies in today. Ledger has 3, one raced, Moody, 1 unraced. The only saving grace for punters who like to invest in the Quadrella is that, being the 1st leg, some guide may be taken by betting fluctuations up to jump time. Just for interest,my tips for the last 3 legs of the quaddie are: R6. Elbrus, Full Spinnaker. R7. Auri, Solovei. R8. Total Harmony, Chanorth. |

![]() I might be a lone voice on this forum concerning the programming of this meeting but I was heartened by the scathing criticism of Racing Victoria by form analyst and price assessor Pete murray on 3UZ this morning echoing my views.
