Default sydney lacks personality

for a long time sydney racing to me seems to lack personality.
now that it is off sky channel i dont miss it.
maybe it should be bolstered by better support racing.
if hawksbury wyong and gosford were boosted then perhaps it would improve.

as an event sydney and generally nsw racing is a big let down and needs respiration.

i do the fields on all meetings daily.

on saturdays i have heard of most horses running in melbourne brisbane and adelaide. even belmont.
in sydney they are new to me in most cases.
i realise at this time some are in brisbane but then again not that many leading horses.

i have resigned myself that sydney and melbourne tv casts are lost to me now but frankly sydney wont be missed.

Topsy99,

You are of course entitled to your opinion but it just sounds like it is a personal preference without any real reason.

It lacks personality? I am not sure what that means.

If the horses racing in Sydney at the moment are new to you, you haven't been following them as closely as you say.

Sydney and Melbourne have the best horses racing in the nest races at carnival times.

Default Sydney Racing Lacks Personality

G'Day Topsy,

The point about Sydney racing is the fact that it is dominated by two mega stables and I personally believe that this is a deterrent to future wagering turnover growth.
The average punter hasn't a clue which runner is "trying" when the major stables have a number of starters in the same race.
It is getting so bad that I have increased my betting activities in Hong Kong where the riders are scrutinised to such a degree that the punter feels confident that any transgressions will be dealt with appropriately.

Cheers.

Default explanation sydney racing lacks personality.

i suppose i meant BORING i hope that helps.

i know it is not kosher to knock things and i dont like knocking my major interest but i find sydney a let down.
recall the days when you had carnivals e.g. ryder stakes golden slipper over consecutive saturdays.

doncaster saturday and good monday meeting then following saturday sydney cup etc.

all condensed into super days now. due to what. lack of horses. lack of competetive stables .
stable dominance etc.
i believe that the brisbane races with their restricted classes and some elevated prizemoney offers pretty competitive racing sydney with $60,000 prizemoney races and i commend their attempt to lift the racing there but it still has a way to go.
even putting a listed race each week is a good initiative.

the last 3 races in sydney on saturday were the best races they've had for a while outside carnival time.
lets hope we see more of it and in more races.

anyone got any news on the tvn saga. i have heard nothing for a while.

I don't think you will hear anything in the Sky Channel/TVN war for a while either.

The best I can hope for because I have Austar digital is that they can get TVN into the homes. They may not be far off. But get used to the split for a while.

Topsy,
I don't really care whether racing is interesting or boring as long as the dollars are there.
What was not boring was the sting on the Sydney books on Sat, took e'm for an absolute fortune.
Very clever and the best sting for years.
Wish I was in the know.
This used to happen a lot years ago but very rarely these days.

Cheers

didnt hear about the sting. but missed most of sydney races anyway.
watching austar which doesnt cover sydney or melbourne and trying to remember the race and catch the radio broadcast.

any word on the changes in turnover since the new tv system started.
has the turnover recovered.
