Railings is certainly pretty damn good. Won brilliantly against the bias in the Metrop and now he's done exactly the same today. He's got Melbourne Cup written all over him!!!

discount Eye Popper at your peril... It has to be one of the first horses in your multiples.. remember it has form against Makybe Diva... and was pratted 4 wide today.. Aussie Jock on board and it wins.. i think that was obvious.. the Japanese jock would have learned a heap there this arvo.. so should be a huge chance in the Mel Cup
Yep Railings... owes me absolutely nuthin... I was yelling for the 3 of em down the straight I gotta say.. but having the winner on top was nice for the ego..
Mummify being hurt has upset me... I saw his first start and thought here is something very special... I think it may have been Mornington ( not sure tho).. Unlike a lot of punters I love the animals, and he has been one of the bravest and best that I have seen.. and always underrated.. Lets hope he can live, but he has broken a couple of bones in his fetlock so isnt a great prognosis... lets keep our fingers crossed

Well, I've learnt a lesson. 2yo races are out and so are races shorter than 1200. Just can't get a handle on them.

A few for tomorrow..
*Sigrun S/C r7. I was on this horse last week when it raced wide the whole way and still boxed on..Won't have to go around a single horse tomorrow..very confident but i'm guessing the price will very short.
Shedding down the bottom finished well last start and is bred to run all day..bryne on board ...these 2 should fight it out..
*Taxable Income S/C r1. another horse i've been following ,Ric gets the ride back tomorrow and seems to ride this horse best..He's a one paced type of horse but against this ordinary lot should get the lead and fight them all off..his run a few starts ago racing wide was full of merit..looks a good jumper in the making imo..
*Catchadane. Gosford r2..horse is flying and has good form around some excellent horses..i like the freshen and drop back in distance..good jock..
has to beat the toppy Centre fire who i rate the only danger,,
*Wallarah Boy..Gosford r5.. really like this horse...had no luck last time but hit the line hard..is rock hard fit for this and from the inside barrier looks a reall good thing..won at the track before . gets alot of ticks,,
Should get a price out of 2 of these 4..
others i like are Onions Gosford r2 and Miss Celia Nowra r5.....

Race 7 - Looks a very tough one here. Extremely open and the sort of race that could provide an upset. You could look at 3, 6, 9 & 11 however. Perhaps a little each way on 3 RAID THE ROYALS & 6 COCINERO.

Didn't have a go at that trifecta there as I thought it was too open. Just had a small each way bet on 3 & 6.
My big win of the day was Brisbane race 6. Good old Mardi Gras. I was VERY confident about her chances. Got half the trifecta and a quarter of the first 4. Also got the first 4 in Melbourne R6, but that really wasn't too hard.

Nice win on Catchadane ..missed with Walarah boy 3rd ...1 from 2..
didnt back Sigrun ..just wasnt sure about the heavy track..did have a slab on though..thought he did well ..still has alot to learn but has a future..
Taxable Income scratched ...onions 2nd to short...nice win with Miss Celia,,like this horse and maybe should of had more than a slab...but rules are rules ..
can't argue with 50% pot....very happy with the 2 only selections during the week days,,..seems to be working :)

My 2 for tomorrow
*Acinonyx.. Scone R7.. this Catbird filly isnt bad..last win although awhile ago was very easy..Has had a couple of trials to get ready for this and hasnt been extended in any of them..She's a 4yo with only 2 starts so i'm guessing she's had some probs..the 2 trials suggest she's over them..Robbo on board which is always a good thing except not for the price we'll get..
theres a couple others i dont mind in this race..Taxformer looked good last start and Miracle Fred has ability aswell...
If acinonyx is to short and if Robbo has had his usual dayout she might be....I still think it will be a good trifecta race with the other 2 mentioned..
Cool name isn't it ..means Cheetah in Latin..just has to win with a name like that..
*Lester Cove..Orange R7.. ..has a wide barrier ,,big weight and a chick jockey...not my usual go but i just loved the way this boxed on last start with exactly the same..except the jock..
Races well 2nd up ,, actually beat Blinkin Quick awhile ago which is pretty good form he's won 7 from his last 8 races,,....Lester should come across from the wide barrier and race prominent which is always good here and in these type of races..
The distance maybe a worry but he looks to of come back stronger this prep ..
should get nice e/w odds about him..,,i thought Billigaboo a big danger..
Didnt mind Dark Centaur ..in the big race at Orange..forget his last run but before that pushed juerga to the limit..consistent horse who just needs to jump well to win this..

Lester Cove ran a huge race to just get pipped on the line...was hoping for better odds but a win is a win.shortened a stack though on ias ..wasnt my little $500...missed the tri ...follow this horse he'll win a few this prep,.,
By proccess of elimination Tax Former won ...and paid around $3 ..nice collect and i thought good odds with the toppy and Miracle fred out.,,got only half the tri as i got a litle greedy with it and needed Shades of steel for third or 2nd..
Good day just the same...keeping up this streak on the week days..been very consistent..whish i could be more consistent on the saturdays where i just seem to jag the big collect to save me..

*Chevron Island ,,,Ballina R8...I like this horse ..did the job for us last time and looks well placed here..very promising horse and is still learning.did a few things wrong last start but still won..
some good horses in this race so i should get a price...

Acinonyx raced Sunday...just watched the video..missed it as i saw Onions as good thing but odds on..
She raced well ,,finished 5th ...in the straight she shifted out and the winner and Onions sandwiched her and squeezed her out the back,,,she was never extended and wasnt touched with the whip....worth keeping an eye on..
Confident about Chevron Island today...alittle concern over the gap between races hoping there isnt any probs...my mail says there isn't.. the form is good
and races well fresh....

make the most of it Mav..everything seems to run in cycles, esp when on the punt professionally..
I usually get nervous after several consecutive 2nds, because they usually go on to form a drought devoid of winners. My theory on that is that some of the short- half- heads etc that go against you were horses that should have been your winners.
I had a horrendous run with 2nds recently..the worst I can ever recall, and it can be very trying when that happens bet after bet after bet...Prior to this I had a run of winning photofinsishes..it all evens out
Last week My Best Tycoon turned the tide by winning by a short half head for me at good odds, instead of losing out in a photo and running 2nd, but my confidence had not still not fully recovered. Then, on Sat. Kananda Queen came from 2nd last to win by a head.(Thank god for sportingbet and their Maxidiv on sat metros... if only they offered Maxidiv on non metro and midweek). How that horse got out to $48 is beyond me..
After three good winners I feel that everything is back on kilter for me and the horror run has ended...until next time...
I wish you all the very best with your venture into full time punting. yep its fun alright and you will have grand days and weeks where things don't go wrong. You will also have times when you wonder what the hell you are doing ,as the pendulum swings back to level things out and the photo finishes and jockeys do their best to screw you..
Savour the good runs and keep your sanity on the bad ones..and I dont care how high anyone's strike rate is , I'm sure every professional punter (and jockey) has periods when the runs of outs far exceeded their expectations and calculations... It's not the financial dent, but rather how your head handles it that matters...it can be real battle of wits and no one can really prepare you for that.
When turning full time it can be very tempting to look for bets, and attend meets that you really should have stayed away from..at least that's what hapened to me when i first went full time. With no friends to play with during the week, the track and its regulars can easily become your friends and family and lure you to attend meetings you otherwise wouldnt go near...
My suggestion is to make sure you have some off course, non- punting friends to play with during the week.
If attending meetings, keeping oneself occupied between races can be a trap also..esp if you have a selection in r2 and one in r8 and nothing in between. You have to fight the urge to have play bets, each too much, or worse still, contemplate a drink...Discipline, discipline discipline....
All the very best to you Mav..you are taking yourself to a higher level that very few people ever reach. Enjoy!

I can not believe for a second that everyone is so focused on the Midweek and Saturday Metro meetings.......
I am positive people are still doing the form/ratings for every meeting of every day......
So even if your not punting yourself, why would you not share your thoughts with the rest of the forum?
Anyone that say's they are disciplined and stick to the Metro meetings - IMHO - are kidding themselves...... false sense of security.....

lmao..settle down stix..I'm still going..the last 2 days have been fairly ordinary racing and alot of those races werent worth rating..
I suppose i'm diferent to you as i have a large stable of runners and usually only rate races with these in them..
check out tomorrow..
the last in Brissie looks a cracker as does the Murray Bridge Cup and Geelong racing..
i'm guesing alot of us are looking at these and i'm even looking at Saturday already :)
Thanks for your Advice and encouragement W924...I'm hopefully finalising some business interests which keep me very busy although not very profitable at this stage.....punting is some what financing all of these ventures at the moment..
the goal is to sort few things out and be free and clear by about March..
i'll keep a few minor things going which arent too time consuming so i still have a source of income thats not reliant on the horses..
I have'nt expereinced the dreaded run of outs yet ..but i've only been going 1 and 1/2 years seriously so i guess my time will come..starting from such humble beginnings i've come along way ..the things i've learnt from this forum has been invaluable..one bit of advice i got from Sportz and year and half ago was to be more selective ...its taken me this long to realise that this is real good advice..i used have a million runner running arround....still have to many on the Saturays but i'm slowly getting there,,,
The dream is to go full time ..travell around the country following feature meetings and as well hopefully watching my own horses racing..
Being a recently single man i couldnt think of a more exciting proffession..

Good to hear your doing so well Mav. I wouldnt reccommend going full-time pro (from my own personal experience) but if it's something you need to try, then all the best. I used to spend 12-14 hr days keeping up with the form, waiting patiently for the overlays, etc & I eventually got sick of it. Suddenly this game wasn't so much fun. The angina attacks weren't much fun either :p
I pulled the pin on that venture a few years ago & went & got myself a degree instead. A few years away from the game renewed my love of it, but i will forever remain a small time punter now.
I'd really, really recommend you try getting some work with Humbleton instead, you'd do it standing on your head, as would quite a few on this forum.

Certainly not having a go a you (Always follow your tips :) ) - or anyone else for that matter..... just think it is interesting that a few weeks/months ago there were tips/ratings flying left right and centre and now........ since someone mentioned the words "Spring Carnival"......... everyone has pulled their heads in.......just an interesting observation - that's all..... :)

*Mr Celebrity,,horse is in real good form..seemed to be only warming up the last 50m in the Epsom..the distance jump is a concern and Gai has a habit of throwing her horses in anything going but i ilke the way this horse hits the line...i cant find anything else to beat him..Men at work the main danger..
place chances to C&C with no weight the Don and Sarrera ..
would want around 4's or close to it..
*Caulfield Jim...jumped off this horse last start after every man and his dog tipped him into fav...the Gauch got out way to late after maybe looking for that dream inside run he seems to love,,,the horse flew home for 2nd..it was only a class6 but this isnt a strong open...the top2 have the runs on the board and are the only worries..

*Pager,,this horse is flying at the moment ..beaten by a promising horse last time ..this is easier Ric rides him well and he's well in with the claim..
*Prend....i like this horse..close up to Funlove in a recent barrier trial,,only a length off Cool Scene at the end her last prep...never won first up but has had the 2 trials..good barrier good trainer and Ric again rides this,,,,should get a good price here as theres a few promsing types in this race,,
*Geddes Gold....loved his win at the Coast..looks a promsing stayer..very nice type..ordinary race this with horses that usual take turns in winning ..in these types of races i like following the up and comer....bowditch didnt have any luck last time..will be doing his best to make up for it ..
*Moonbi Nymph...i was very confident last start with Moonbi and i thought Stathi pulled the trigger a bit early and was pipped on the line by a form horse called Wokandi....up in class here but its worth noting that this horse tested Star of Canada and beat Bunsen Honey Dew in a class 6 earlier this year.races well here at ef....i'm hoping stathi rides her quieter and with Fond Kiss, Add it up and Nice Surprise in the race i should get very healthy odds..
*Hulk Hogan...this monster of a horse did very well first up..omnitrader is always tough to run down..the Hulk will improve a stack from it...this horse has many tipping it to be a star..i'm thinking along the same lines..Scenic wells from the inside will be the one i'll be watching for coming late..

and not forgeting my good mate Merlot Now in the cup...this horse has been below par of late,,got me thinking that Mr Hewitt changed a few things in his prep wanting him to get over more ground...as Merlot now has seemed to of lost that zip he usually has at the ened of the race...Merlot was nominated for the CC and this might of meant they have put alot of work into him so he should be fit.. i'll trust the trainer here and i'm guessing this horse would be ready for this almost targeting this as plan b..,,,should get the cosy run which will help..wish Bowditch was ridding him but lever isnt all that bad..

I have backed men at work for the GC, but i thought on a jeune was a rough chance. I wouldn;t be leaving him out of multis.

His current form suggests he can't win, but I remember his form last preparation and I'm not totally dismissing him. The Murray Bridge Cup looks very tricky to work out.

Hi guys ..an even day for me...
Started well with collects on Pager (nice trifecta multiple times) .and Prend for the place....left Geddes alone with the deadish track..did back Moonbi Nymph..havent seen the video yet but dissapointing....
Hulk Hogan was just to short to consider..and luckily..a few people talking about the ride....i'll reserve my judgement till i see the video..
A couple of winners in Sydney 2 from 4..a tidy profit there..got 1/2 the 1st4 which was nice..should of went full stake here ..oh well ..
Geelong..thank god for the late scratching of Mr Celebrity but dissapointing as he would of won by 5 lengths..Caulfield Jim ran on well but to late..
and yes backed Merlot Now of course e/w..very dour has no sprint..give him a spell or freshen him up and drop him in distance...i think he's probably a good sprinter, 1400m horse who was in such good form last prep he won over longer....i'm no training expert but i'd be going back to what works Mr Hewitt..

Yeah, for some reason, I do tend to do okay at the midweek racing. Had a good one again today. I had 12 betting races in all and the Geelong Cup was the only blowout (and I got most of that money back thanks to Mr Celebrity). I made a handy profit today.
Lately I've decided to concentrate almost totally on Saturdays and Wednesdays (or whenever the big midweek races are on) and I've been doing well using this strategy. That's why I haven't been posting any tips for Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays etc lately, because I've only been having maybe 1 or 2 bets on those days. Sometimes none at all.

Not sure if Western Spur (Northam R7 No5) can cope with the speed for 1300m but Vern reckons hes fit and setting him for longer...hasnt shown anything yet (even been described as one paced-slow hahahaha) but mother is from Zabeel and apparently they dont start to show anything till 4 years plus so fingers crossed...
I know Ive done so before and was disappointed but will pick Silent Wishes again in race 1 Northam...No 3 and 16 small ew in R2... and think Prince Of Vasac canturn the table on Wild Target in R6 with the extra 100m (was good win by WT though with PJ again on board)...good luck guys...hope to catch up Saturday...:D

<!-- / message -->First 4 is same as a tri......except you need to pick a horse/horses to run 4th - Hence you need to pick the first 4 horses in order.
Cost = number selections for 1st x number selections for 2nd x number selections for 3rd x number selections for 4th.
e.g. ten horse field - Take:
For 1st select 1,2,3
For 2nd select 1,2,3,4,5
For 3rd select Field (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10)
For 4th select Field (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10)
3 x 4 x 8 x 7 = $672 for $1 unit ($336 for 50c unit) or for a $20 flexi bet (NSW TAB) you would get 2.97% of the 1st 4 dividend :) and oly cost you $20 not $672 !! :D
All in bet ? not sure what you mean is this the same as an all-up (VIC) ?
Parlay........ I ain't gunna explain this one (my fingers are getting sore as it is) - sorry mate I'm sure someone else will explain it... :D

say the full 1 unit cost of your selections was 100$, and u only wanted to spend 20$. yur dividend would be 1 fifth of the full dividend or 20%Flexi-betting you get the fraction of the final dividend based on what your outlay is and should of been.....
As X stated if bet should have cost you $100 for $1 (2x5x10 trifecta) and you only wanna spend $20 you only get 20% of the trifecta dividend i.e: $20/$100 = 20% and trifecta pays $500 then you get $100 ($500x20%). Therefore: Out $20 in $100......
All up (Win only) means you pick:
* Horse #? from race 1 to WIN, then
* Horse #? from race 4 to WIN, then
* Horse #? from race 5 to WIN, then
* Horse #? from race 6 to WIN, and put $10 unit
And should you lucky enough to get all four over the line the winnings of the first race go on to the second race and so on and so forth
* Horse #? from race 1 to WIN, pays $2.00, then $20 is placed on next selection ($2 x $10)
* Horse #? from race 4 to WIN, pays $2.00, then $40 is placed on next selection ($2 x $20)
* Horse #? from race 5 to WIN, pays $5.00, then $200 is placed on next selection ($5 x $40)
* Horse #? from race 6 to WIN, pays $4.00, then you win $800 for your $10
i.e. $10 x 2 x 2 x 5 x 4 = $800
Same theory applies for if you choose your selections to place only......
When you go each way then it gets a bit more complex (and costly)..... but stick to the win only or place only or combination of both and leave the each way's until you build your bank and experience ! :D
Parlay is exactly the same principle as an all up except you can have (in the above example) a 4 parlay with a formula 3 - which means to get a dividend you only need 3 of the four to win or place (dependent on what you've picked them to win or place!) to get a collect...... e.g. selections in R1 ($2), R4($2) andn R6 ($4) win the divy will be $16 x each $1 unit you place....again this costs much more than an all-up as it involves multiple "mini" all up bets....... i.e. your bets consist of r1, r4, r5 AND r1, r5, r6 AND r4, r5, r6 etc.... not sure what this would cost (I think it's $12 for 50c unit..... but don't quote me :( )...... maybe some other kind soul could help out with this.....
AND THE FLEXI IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO NSW ACCOUNT HOLDERS !!

*Tara's Song.. Mackay r2... has been unlucky her last 2 runs....likes the wet, likes the track ...and i'm guessing its wet up that way,,D Evans a good jock,,,the toppy looks a danger but in the wet a risk.. Amberace is in good form a place chance....
I'm alittle worried about the quick back up here but they seem to do that up there all the time.....would want a good price,,

Sorry guys:(...havent had time to have a look at Belmont these past weeks but the guys doing the 'West' thread have been doing a great job for a much longer time than I anyway...
Not sure if Western Spur (Northam R7 No5) can cope with the speed for 1300m but Vern reckons hes fit and setting him for longer...hasnt shown anything yet (even been described as one paced-slow hahahaha) but mother is from Zabeel and apparently they dont start to show anything till 4 years plus so fingers crossed...
I know Ive done so before and was disappointed but will pick Silent Wishes again in race 1 Northam...No 3 and 16 small ew in R2... and think Prince Of Vasac canturn the table on Wild Target in R6 with the extra 100m (was good win by WT though with PJ again on board)...good luck guys...hope to catch up Saturday...:D

Sabre Sonic just didnt run on at all..good price i thought but just struggled very dissapointing indeed...
maybe a slab on Capilano Rd at huge odds e/w ...the slow track has scared everyong off but hes only had the one start on it,,
box him with the 2/4..chuck in 1 and 7 for the 1st4 ..
Quiet in here today...raining in Brissie...looks like a slow track at best..
shame as its a real good meeting at Doomben..

Race 1 - Even race here, but if you want a bet, I think 4 DOUBLOON has a chance, and 1 ZINZIN is a possible roughie. (4,3,2,1)
Race 3 - 4 FOX LAKE* is a very promising horse. Likely to be short, but should win. 6 RESISTOR could be a nice roughie. (4 - 6,2,1,3)
Race 4 - 7 RIVERINE. Excellent win last start after being well backed first run. Expecting her to go on with it. Dangers are 4 FLURO FEVER & 3 SKY RIGHT. (7,4,3 - 2,1,5)
Race 5 - Not normally keen on horses having their 2nd career start, but 5 STRADA looks a good one and is the one to beat. I'll be looking for some value though. 6 WHISTLING BOB & 1 FRIDAY CREEK are the dangers. (5,6,1 - 3,8,7)
Race 6 - 12 SWARTHY was a top run last start and 3rd up, it looks like this will suit. He's equal top pick with the smart and consistent 1 LE BRON. I'll be looking for each way value around these two.
Race 7 - I'm keen on 10 AMIANAN here. Very promising, down in weight nd extra distance should suit. Dangers are 2 OCTOBER SON & 5 AL'S FLYER. (10,2,5 - 1,4,11)
MOONEE VALLEY
Race 3 - Tricky race, but 8 FACING THE BREEZE is promising, so perhaps a small bet each way if the odds are okay.
Race 6 - 12 MATRAS is a favourite of mine. Okay in the wet, so no reason to jump off here and may get a price thanks to the outside barrier. 4 HENNESSY WALTZ looks perfectly set for this after a good run last week and is the obvious danger. 7 AQUA D'AMORE also a chance. (12,4,7 - 2,6,8,11)
Race 7 - In my mind, 3 horses stand out as top prospects. 10 MAKYBE DIVA is definitely the top pick, but I don't know that she is great value at the odds likely to be on offer. If this was run at Flemington, she'd be a good thing, but at Moonee Valley, she might find some trouble. Still the one to beat though. 2 LAD OF THE MANOR & 13 GOD'S OWN are the two big dangers in my opinion. Lad Of The Manor has so much in his favour, especially the track and the conditions. Meanwhile, God's Own could be anything. Outstanding win in the Guineas and no reason to drop off now. 3 roughies that I think you should consider for multis are 3 Super Kid, 5 Desert War & 6 Fields Of Omagh. (10,2,13 - 3,5,6,1)
Race 8 - Looks a good race for multis. I'll be looking mainly at 1 MISS POTENTIAL, 4 LIEUTENANT & 5 NICONERO. 8 LORDS A LEAPING could be a good longshot with a good 2nd up record. (1,5,4 - 8,9,11,2)

Race 10 - Not totally keen here. 13 UNABATED was a great run last time and looks a top prospect here, but it's a wide open race with many chances. 7 MOCK & 12 AUSSIE LOTI could be good value.

Race 5 - 3 WILLY LEICA really should be winning here. Not sure he'll be much value though. 4 PLANAGRAM & 5 TYCOON ROSE could be okay each way value. (3,4,5 - 2,8,12)

Race 8 - 3 IS AMAZING* looks too good here. In top form and Paul Harvey rides. (3,1,5 - 4,10)

A couple for tomorrow.
*Rebelette ... lismore r3...In fine form..she's holding it very well and the quick back up must mean she's thriving. Doesnt run a bad race and is well weighted..won at the track...not sure in the wet..prepared to jump off slow or worse.
* Fresh Cream ..lis r7.. good horse that i've followed for awhile..solid return to racing last start and gets to a more suitable distance..good barrier , good jock..will be hard to beat..should be able to handle the wet also..
others to consider...Hoplite, Light of Demus, Lancasters Gold..

Race 1 - Very impressed with 2 UTILITY two starts ago, but not so good on Sunday on a wet track. A quick backup and perhaps he can find that good form again.
Race 3 - Wouldn't normally be keen on a race like this, but Glen Boss has gone to Werribee for just one ride on 1 APOLOGIA. That's a tip in itself. Has trialled well, but may be a bit short. Possibly 9 LOMBARDY could be another to consider.
Race 5 - I like the recent form around 7 DARK MASK, especially if we get some rain, and also quite keen on 1 PRINCE EIRAM which was 4th behind our old mate Blue Collar Jack last start. I'll be looking for value around these two runners. (7,1,2 - 9,5 - 6,4)

Race 7 - I don't mind 4 TALONS SHOWN here. Much better than recent form suggests and could be good value today. Will be looking at perhaps an each way bet on her. I think the main dangers are 6 MAGGIE'S MATE & 11 CENTASHANI. (4,6,11 - 3,7 - 1,8)
Race 8 - Will be waiting to see what happens with the weather here. As it stands, I'm quite keen on the chances of 4 PURE SILENCE & 10 COALESCE. They're both in tremendous form and appear to have an edge on their rivals here. 1 ROMAN ARCH & 2 CHARNWOOD GREEN shouldn't be underestimated though. Both were quite competitive with Activation last start. (4,10,1 - 2,3 - 6,9). If it rains, I may have to change my thinking considerably.
Race 9 - Good each way chance here for 2 HIGH ACADEMY. Nice form line around Volitant last start and a good wet track record if it comes to that. The dangers are 1 POLISH CLOWN & 5 LIGHTOFPROSPERITY. (2,1,5 - 6,4)

Race 3 - Wouldn't normally be keen on a race like this, but Glen Boss has gone to Werribee for just one ride on 1 APOLOGIA. That's a tip in itself. Has trialled well, but may be a bit short. Possibly 9 LOMBARDY could be another to consider.
Proves $,$$$,$$$ don't buy you a ready made (or bred) champion....... :D

Race 2 - Not overly keen on this race, but 2 INGIRO was impressive last time, and no reason why he can't win again.

Race 4 - None of these have records to get excited about, but if you want to bet here, I feel you should concentrate on 1 MAGIC PINS & 2 EXINITE. (1,2,4 - 3 - 5,7)
Race 6 - 8 ZOUZOU is the one to beat here. A good effort for 2nd first up and a top chance to go one better today. 7 XAAR XAAR & 11 PRINCESS DE PARIS could be the dangers. (8,7,11 - 6,2 - 3,9)
Race 7 - I think 2 BULLET EXPRESS is the way to go here. A good consistent record and Larry Cassidy jumps back on after winning on him 2 starts ago. 4 FULL ON MAGIC could be a good value runner after a nice effort first up. (2,4,1 - 6,3)
Race 8 - I like the chances of 4 VOLTDANZE here. A nice run last start and definitely looks well suited here. 2 JIM JUMP & 1 OSCA are the obvious dangers. (4,2,1 - 12,5 - 3,9)

Didn't bet on that race or on Werribee R3 either. Apologia was a ridiculous price and did nothing. (just like Ingiro) I'm normally VERY keen on Wednesdays, but not today. The standard is pretty poor. I normally have about 12 betting races on a Wednesday, but I think it'll be half that today.

Race 5 - I like the recent form around 7 DARK MASK, especially if we get some rain, and also quite keen on 1 PRINCE EIRAM which was 4th behind our old mate Blue Collar Jack last start. I'll be looking for value around these two runners. (7,1,2 - 9,5 - 6,4)
or box the first 3..... well done mate. 1st 4 was nice divvy.... :)

Race 8 - 2 BREEZY, 9 Scarcity, 12 Stitching (2,9,12 - 5,1 - 3,7)
CANTERBURY
Race 7 - 1 THE JONKER, 7 Marquise Star, 5 Hint Of Success (1,7,5 - 4,3 - 8,9)
WAGGA
Race 5 - 4 GREY DECEIVER, 3 Boendso, 7 Portland Gem (4,3,7 - 1,2,5)
As per usual, you should consider Darren Beadman in these Sydney midweek meetings. He has a few good ones at Canterbury today. Race 1 there is tough. I actually like 4 horses in the 6 horse field. (4,5,1,6) I'll wait to have a look at the odds there. Some others that I think you could look at are R2-2, R5-6, R6-2.

Oh, another one I forgot to mention was SEYMOUR R6-2 TARA'S HALLS. Has a good record 2nd up and at the track and I'm expecting it to go well. It may not be great value though.
By the way, Canterbury R2-3 Cash Carter has opened up incredibly short on the TABs today, so there must be a good tip around for it today. It HAS won 2 of 3 first up, so who knows.

Yes Stix, that was another thing that passed my mind.
I remember a few years ago there was a PPM system that was actually doing okay for a while. I'd worked out most of the rules myself, but not all. It didn't matter. I just had to look at the opening TAB figures every Saturday morning and you could spot them. Horses which would normally be $10 or something would open up $1.50. :D

Haven't given up yet..had an awkward barrier last run and was ridden forward ,,,i was hoping bowditch would ride her off the pace and ride her cold..no doubt he would of seen her previous run where she did well leading and decided she had to lead..this is the problem when you chop and change jocks...i think her best runs have been from behind and hope they wake up to themselves..
I'll give her another chance as shes had excuses..but be carefull as i'm very forgiving .as most on here would know...(merlot now :( )
Have the two today..Stitching and Sister Katherine..
been going very well of late during the week,,very consistent...i'm more than happy with the new method...miss jagging those roughies i used to get though.

If it's a big meeting and a race where I'm really confident, I'd be prepared to spend up to $60 on a trifecta, but at a meeting like today, I usually like to spend no more than $30. That's what that 3/5/7 option in your example costs. It's also $30 for 3/6/6 or 2/7/7 or a 5 horse box or a roving banker with 5 others.
I simply post a suggested order on here though, because I don't really like to tell people how they should bet. If anyone wants to follow the tips, it's up to them how they do it. And besides, I don't actually make up my mind completely about how I'm betting until just before the race. It's a bit late to post my exact trifecta tips then. And sometimes I don't even end up taking a trifecta, but simply take an any2 or quinella instead.

i had an e/w on Labayadere and alittle any2 for fun..it paid $8 but the other combo of 2,8 paid almost twice as much even though Lay bayadere was twice as much on the tote as the 8....

Both tipsters actually made number 2 a special, but it was a late scratching. The Unitab site then simply took number 2 out of the tips but left the * there. Not good.

*Red Pill ..been on this horse this prep and he's been ultra consistent..likes this track and has the strong rider on board that he needs..has a good barrier..worry in the wet ..
the dangers are Precise Timing whos in such good form..Working class man, Baritone, Cold Start..
if it is wet i'll look at Rampant Lion who loves it and raced well last start...
good trifecta race..

You've probably gone off him because of the extreme outside barrier, but I backed him when he won the cup last year paying $33 and guess what barrier he had then. Well, seeing I backed Rampant Lion last start, I'll have something on him again while i'm having an arvo beer. It was a solid run, but I was kinda disappointed, but he's consistent & lightly raced. I'll want $6 in that field.
Really wanted to follow up on Magnus at MV tonight but is scratched. Will have something on Byway now.

Sorry Glenn, can't really help you out with any tips today, as I'm only interested in a few races and they're all after your betting finishes I think.
The Toowoomba Cup is a wide open race and I'll probably be looking to back 1 PRECISE TIMING, 4 COLD START & 5 RUE THE SAINT and concentrate any multiples mainly around 1,2,4,5,8.
At Goulburn, I'll be looking to back track specialist Race 7-1 STOUSHMAN if he's reasonable value.
Meanwhile, At Moonee Valley tonight, I quite like Race 2-1 EDDY AND D'POSTMAN & 7 REIGNS OF POWER. They should both be each way value. I think Race 6-3 KING ALFRED will probably win, but he's not likely to be any value at all. And in Race 8, I think 9 MISS DETTORI has a top chance, with 2 OPIO MISS & 1 SWINGING BABE as the main dangers.
Not going to be risking too much money today as it's a big one tomorrow.

I like Rue the saint..but your right i'm scared of that barrier around here in the wet will have him there somewhere,,..think the toppy is well in even with that weight..
will have Mythological, Baritone and Working class man in the tris ect..always good value if you can jag that roughie..

Ended up having a good bet on Precise Timing, because I thought he was pretty good value actually. Also had savers on Cold Start and Rue The Saint. Then I heard the betting report just before the race and they mentioned that Beale Street had been quite well backed at good odds. Well, I added him to my trifecta and look what happened!!! :D
Didn't take a first 4 though. :(

I am not gunna claim Beale Street... ( i didnt hear of the "plunge" on him mentioned elsewhere) but he is an old Joe Pride runner with a bit of form around Sydney (lower class races) and the Provincials... It wasnt impssible to include him... ( I didn't) I backed Rampant Lion and saved on Precise Timing so no harm done.. How good is this Taree horse in these country cups?

2nd day in a row that my tips have gone shocking in the night meetings. As it is, I never risk too much money on night racing, but it looks like I might have to forget about it altogether!!!

I wouldnt be too concerned about doing your doh on the nite meetings.. they are notoriously hard... I had a losing day all round... ( jeez ya dont hear that on here too often) .. but that is the nature of the punt... there will be 80 odd races to choose from tomorrow, and we should be able to find a winner or 2 from that lot.. dont forget they pay you in the same currency for the winner of the VRC Derby as they will if you pick the winner in R4 at Dubbo.. Back on board today for my favourite day of racing.... giddy up..
Mav, seen in the other thread you picked oahu, well now that its scratched feel free to unload on soveriegn miss. Its my mates horse and its run at caulfield from a crap barrier was full of merit and will bolt this in today in a much easier field. If the rain persists (meant to be clearing up) he will be a late scratching but very confident with this.
In newcastle watch for a massive plunge at the track in race 5 on cheap as. Know the connections here and has been set for this, Id reccomend taking fixed odds early where possible as it will be sure to tighten in late.
Ascot race 1 eugene blue in his first race is set for a big one. From all accounts has been looking the goods in track work and should be around the mark. Other selections in adelaide are some kinda storm in race 1, and facilikate in race 5.
Mav, you would be pleased to know Ive just bought into another 2 horses, 1 is a colt (18 months old) and is closely related to MERLOT NOW, the other is a filly from akhadane, which is starting to produce a few winners..... Both un-named at this stage but will keep everyone informed..

Race 1 in melbourne.... pirate island. Super run last start doing his best work late. The exra journey here suits him to a tee, and will be sure to be running on late. Its an adelaide horse and there is certainly a bit of oil around the place for it.. Hopefully this can set up a good day early....

Race 1 - I don't think I'll be risking much here. Looks a wide open race with a host of up and comers. Take your pick from about 7 chances. (9,2,6,7,10,1,3) I'll be looking for some sort of value from that lot. 9 DEREGULATE is my top pick, but not confident.
Race 3 - Well, if his Geelong Cup run (non run) means anything at all, then 4 MR CELEBRITY is definitely the one to beat here. Very promising horse needing a win to make the cup and he has the ability to do it. 1 CONFECTIONER & 8 UPRIZE are the dangers.

Race 4 - On weights, 5 ASTRONOMIA looks just about a good thing here. Terrrific run last start and the 53 kg looks good. 7 EMPRESS LILY & 6 BEAUTY WATCH are the main dangers and will hopefully be running on with an eye to the Oaks on Thursday.

Race 5 - Looks a good race for multis. I think 13 SHANIA DANE & 11 LOTTERIA are the top picks here. Good consistent form in strong races against the males. 1 MISS POTENTIAL & 15 JOHAN'S TOY are dangers.

Race 6 - I've been following 1 PENDRAGON & 4 HEADTURNER for a while and in my opinion, they're the classiest horses here. I think that one of them will probably win. 3 DUELLED & 5 GALLANT GURU next best.

Race 7 - A match between 3 LAD OF THE MANOR & 9 ACTIVATION here. Activation is a very promising horse coming through the ranks. Meanwhile Lad Of The Manor will be advantaged by the jockey change. He's won 2 of his 8 starts this year and both times he was ridden by Greg Childs, whereas Brian Johns rode him on the other 6 occasions. Enough said.

Race 8 - Probably won't be betting much if at all here. Looks VERY open and which side of the track will be the best??? For what it's worth, I think the best chances are 4,5,9,11,16, but not confident at all.
Race 9 - Not keen here, but perhaps 4 RECAPITALIZE could be worth an each way bet. Any number of hopes in this race. (4,11,6,1,3,12,2)

Yep some surprises alright...a few placings that paid better than some winners, but I had to wait until matey to deliver and put my feet up..doubled up on matey and had a a small saver on prosecution just in case.
Did it harder than Mav who got the chocolates early. Yep Lotteria was a great price really...
Pleased to get out ok and I still have a roughy in mining silver and reclaim to go around.

Well, the thing I'm most pleased about today was working out which races NOT to bet on. I gave races 1, 8 & 9 a miss at Flemington and very glad I did as I would have done my dough.

I haven't seen the scratchings yet for today, but the U.S. Australian racing site picks the following specials at Mornington: R-1 #7,CALIFORNIA DANE R-2 #9,FLYING LANGFUHR R5 #1 CANARY ISLANDS R-9 #9 DUEL COMMAND. The other venue, Colac, I have never bet at before. The specials there are: R-1 , #11 and #5 TERHEEB R-4 #1,DINGLE BAY R-5 #2 LATLANZ. These specials usually have better than a 50% strike rate, but are frequently at a small price. Racing starts earlier already, Sportz. Around 8 P.M. my time.
I just finished playing the Breeder's Cup races at Belmont N.Y.. I did pretty well betting these races, about 60% on the exactas.

The Starcraft result didn't surprise me at all. How could he expect him to win at his first attempt on the dirt against top class horses which race on the dirt all the time?

Lester cove repaid my faith in him..was due ,,he's been flying of late..
and did you see Arena Miss..came from last to just miss by a whisker..thought it was an ordinary ride..
hopes on Overtothree e/w in the last at good odds..
today was a bonus day for me..as i used Be Good Johny's winnings from last night for my stake today...
just love the punt...who needs to work :)
