Didnt see any races or even have a bet today, looks like lucky for me too because wouldnt of had any collects. Probably wait until saturday now, too busy with my own business at the moment to find time for the required research, have to sort that out, maybe employ someone else. Might have a little go on sovereign realm if the odds permit. beaten by tubular bells last start looks better placed here. Noticed as well there is no jockey on him, that has gotta help. Concentrate on saturday I think.
Good luck guys.

I was given a tip for Casaco in Race 7 at the Gold Coast tomorrow. I watched its last start and the way it finished you would think 1300m would suit. It is now having its 3rd start back from a spell and won its maiden and class 1 before spelling last campaign. I believe it was scrtched from Eaglefarm on Wednesday for this. I understand the toppy is scratched but it will still have its hoofs full with Hillgrove express and I dared. Back it at your own peril as this is my first tip on this forum.

A few around tomorrow i'll have a look at..
Cranbourne
On the Green ..only a few lenghts off Mazunda last start...good last 3 runs ..peaking now and the extra 200m is ideal.....gets a bit of speed in this race which will suit...confident here :)
Gold Coast
I Dared ... .front running horse who from the inside will be in this for a long way...theres alot of chances here ..so he'll be nice value ...he can run time and at the coast if you sneak a break on the turn you give yourself a huge chance..
General Strategy...speedy horse who had a bit in reserve last start and still ran time..from the inside over this short distance looks good..
Discord...well placed here...,,doesnt have to improve at all on last start to win this..likes the track and 1350m is ideal...should be hard fit ..and Day around this track is a master..
Alana's Song.....her run december last year has to be seen to be believed ...missed the start by a mile ..flashed home to win...great run last start when right in the market,,,,has a heap of ability...hopefully they come for Wynegrove who also looked good last start...or else she'll be short..
Good Luck guys.. :)

Pretty keen on a few tomorrow in adelaide, hopefully find a few winners.
Race 1; Gleesons landing should put on some early speed and try to lead the whole way here. Hes probably up a little in class here but if he gets it too easy in the running they may not catch him. Include centalante and intoxicating ring for multiples.
Race 2; Although I was dissapointed with yarterbury last week im going to stick with him here. He had every chance last week but didnt produce that fast finish he produced two starts back. Yet to win in the city but I think its only a matter of time. With hoppo and the 3kg claim he should be flashing home. Ill have a good crack on him.
Race 3; cant go past clearview here. been on him his last four wins and the only reason he wont win this is the continuing rise in weights. He once again has a 3kg claim but probably a no bet race if the odds are ridiculous.
Race 4; Pretty hard race here, ill be looking for some value. tyrfing is quoted at $21 in the sportsman and i would think half of that would be value. He is bred to run this distance, form has been rock solid and should be in this for a long way. Good race for a trifecta here because theres a good chance it will be LARGE. Ill be working around tyrfing, coversinga and aqualine with many others behind them.
Race 5;Bit of value here as well. Maui boy looks well placed at $11. One of those horses that always trys. Will be much fitter from his last run and generally runs well second up.
Race 6; Will be having a good crack at emlozza here. If hes anywhere near his best he will bolt this in. This will be my biggest bet of the day and I dont even care if it loses because hes been very good to me in the past.
Race 7;Havent had time to have a good look at this one but probably favouring iceland and susie mine. Both of these horses were doing there best work late in the race, should be fitter and both at good odds.
Race 8; Havent looked into this one either but interested to see what Mav thinks of next nows chances. Wont be as big odds as last run but well justified in his performance.
I mentioned a horse on this thread a few weeks ago called loaded vice racing in darwin. Without giving too much away, it won last start trying to lose, tommorow it is going to run should be a shoe-in. Ill get some late mail on this just before the race and post it because he can become agitated and play up.
Still looking through other fields some good racing around.
I love saturdays!!!

Hi L2bet..
Like Gleesons Landing..Yarterbery gets his chance as well...
Sparkling now in the big one...but agree Emlozza is the biggest danger..
Next Now is going great guns..but up in class and the barrier again...been working well though..worth a e/w ..especially if Joe needs the win to get the title ..
Have to list the "Merlot Now Fan club Tips",...been 7 weeks of profits,,
Sparkling Now
Umatrick
Desert Ransom

Dance Hero

Sorry i didn't post guys but your'e lucky i didn't. The 'one' i was very keen on was Civil in Adelaide, suffice to say 'not happy Jan'.
Won a fair bit back with Dance Hero, lost a bit more with Dandy Kid, a bad day without being disastrous.

Jose,
I dont them personally but know someone involved in the horse well, yes the trainer rides the horse and has worked well in the past. All looks good for him here and CONFIDENT is the word.
Had a great day in adelaide, BIG collect on tyfing with trifecta and then one of the happiest people in adelaide when emlozza saluted.
Go loaded Vice.
Hope yous all had i win..... im getting pissed!!

well done Luv2bet !!!
you beat me into 2nd with Pipkin and beat my baby Sparkling now into 4th...hope you stayed away from the ridiculous odds about Clearview..
Bleeveeka ..what a cat that horse is...first and last time i'll back this thing..
had a shocker in Adelaide ..which is usally so good to me....got a couple of tris but all in all a drastic 50% loss...
But if i was going to lose i'm glad it was to you Luv2bet ..
well done ..
Next now for the Merlot club did us proud...as did Dance hero ..
desert ransom is starting to cost though......another win for the Club ..

Cheers Mav,
Glad you had a win today, nothing unusual i might add. Stayed well away from clearview, watched the race and thought it was a discraceful ride. If I was an owner id shoot the jockey.
Hey Mav Im in queensland all of october, we should team up and have a day at the races. I know sportz and a few others live up that way we should meet up for a day and put a face to all these names.... just a thought.

Some decent racers 2morrow and ill be looking for some big odds.
sandown
Race 6. If all pressure gets a run he might just upset them here. should get 20's so the wager wont have to be large for a nice return. Hes won 3 from his last 4, hes dropping back in distance and up in class but he definately is a chance in this. His form is faultless.
Race 7. Race the heart. Again might be around 20 odd and looks to me like a genuine chance. Has had a long break not sure why but should be right for this. Has won first up before, has won 1 from 1 at this distance, has been placed 3 from 4 at this track and has raced against some pretty handy horses. Worth a little e/w at these odds.
Race 8. Froth and bubble. They will come for silvre birch here along with red octpber and big well, hopefully they leave f 'b alone for me. Would want over 6's for value here. It looks to me it will be better suited over this distance and has been racing pretty handy against a few horses that have gone on with it.
Murwillumbah
Race 7 DEVINE ETOILE.
We were all on this last time and looks good to go on with it here. Would want close to 3's but not to sure ill get it.
Few more races Im still going over will post them later, hope we can continue on from a great day today!!
Good luck.
maverick1993
31st July 2005, 12:13 AM
Divine etoile looks good to me Luv2 ..looks an easier race than last time..
anything above 2.50 is value ..
Scone.
Dusty Daniel , Subrielly
Sandown.
Wencelas Square ..
Kalgoolie.
Fred Conquistador
Strategies
Sunny Coast.
Defecting Playboy
will look at these tomorrow ...hopefully most will be nice e/w value..
Wencelas Square..the best maidener in the country..was ridden poorly last start..should finally win this ..owes me for 3 starts ..
Good luck all... :)
maverick1993
31st July 2005, 12:52 PM
Have another horse that i'll curse down in Melbourne.
La Bayadare in the 7th ..great last run..flew home ...big chance against this lot ..
Confident about a few today...Fred Conquistador looks well placed as does the speedy Subrielly ...worry about Amboise though but hopefully they come for him and subrielly gets to nice value...from the inside he'll be hard to catch.
Wencelas Square has sucked me in again ..but he was butchered last start by a horrible ride...he's right in this and hopefully everyones dropped off him and he gets to decent odds...
Strategies is a longshot i like...fought on well last start in a 3 way go for the line..
Dusty Daniel is the same..good e/w value for a horse that should of finished way closer last start..maybe even won..
Divine Etiole should win ..worry about the barrier though...but colless is a top jockey and hopefully he gets him over ....
I like defecting Playboy ..but think he might be a sitting duck here on the big straight ..Carlino with the Blinkers will probably get him will be fitter now and has won here before..
Good luck all :)

horrible feeling when you log on to your account and it's hardly moved from earlier in the day...having a crap day today ..won with Froth and Bubble (Thanks Luv2) again ,,,but still a shocker...only had win bets today and missed the nice tri in that race aswell,,,
wencelas Square ..havent seen the races yet but that 0 from 4 with that donkey.
was scared of Amboise and of course he won...
not sure what happened to the others ..probably still running..
still have the roughie Strategies later on tonight and also having a dip at Go Gus in the cup at Scone..
one of these win and i might be able to buy some fish n chips tonight.. :)

hey mav ,,,,water is not so bad to drink you just have to get used to it...
had a good crack at froth and bubble today so might have a pizza and a nice bottle of s.a.red,,,,,,speaking s.a.took the free bet with ias on the crows at $34 looks like a good choice now as i think they are about $4.80 dont care as long as west coast lose as they are so one eyed over here..there like seagulls around chips(no pun intended)you cant stop the squawking..
have a good week all...cheers ...gaz....

31st July 2005, 05:50 PM
Hi Gaz...yep looks like Bead n Water tonight..unless Strategies gets up...
Good run by Go Gus i thought ..just didnt want to go through the gap on the inside.....only 2nd run back ..will follow him next time around..
Looks like a few of us were on FrothnBubble..i see Xpt tipped him on top aswell..
Quiet day tomorrow for sure...i'm getting to lazy ...for the saturday races i spend 2 days on video n form ...for today i spent maybe 1/2 an hour ..results speak for themselves ..
My stake on the weekdays is know where near the Saturday races but still ..days like today chip away at the capital ..
PetrolHead is running in the sticks tomorrow (forbes)...never runs a bad race and deserves a win here...always runs on but never any luck...this is his race tomorrow .. has the bad barrier so should be nice odds ..
also Legends Of Ace and Fords creek at Swanhill are in the book..
not sure about Fords Creek this distance but if he gets a claim ..maybe ,,his last run was full of merit and his breeding sugests he could get over ground..
just the 3 for me..
Come on Strategies :) i really want those fishnChips..
well done Luv2bet ... your on fire this weekend ..

Cheers Mav, only a couple of bets today with a very nice win to froth and bubble, pretty close with divine etoile but another winnining day. Going to have a couple 2morrow, just going over them.
Mr ed
31st July 2005, 11:14 PM
Nice work with Froth and Bubble L2B, sounds like Mav was in a little bit, b4 it got up.
Daadditsi, was one i followed as a maiden and has found himself what looks to be the worst quality C1 of all time tommorow. He has been very good his last three runs, his last a strong win at Warnambool. He is the topweight tommorow but is crying out for the extra distance and from (4) just wins for mine. Will unload if any black available.
Still seething after Civils run, he should have bolted that race in, he was going so well around the bend just couldn't get a crack, next time GET ON. Also liked the way Tintagel hit the line after struggling to keep up, she is very close.
Keep up the good work guys.
Mr ed
1st August 2005, 12:54 AM
Dangers in the race look few, La Crema Mossa got home well enough from near last against Dingle Bay, and Facade the same and comes through a really nice form race with Spartakle and Civil, but Daaditsi is on the up and getting better with every run, any rain around would turn the good thing into a certainty.
Main danger in the race looks to be the complete lack of speed, none of these like to lead or even race handy, these types of races ussually work themselves out with connections of the donkeys opting to try something different. Won't take odds on for Daaditsi, but will have it in tri's and exactas with the 2 above.

Well done with Daaditsi.
Good quinella with Facade also.

At times i think it's just Mav, Sportz, L2B and me who read this thread and i'm glad to see others are benefitting from the work those guys put in, i know i have. It has taken me a while, as i'm sure with the others to trust the information being portrayed, but now i realise these lads know what they're talking about and it certainly helps the battle.
Daaditsi, was a no brainer however and i can't take any credit for selecting it, as everyone else in the world did. great result with the exacta and a huge result overall. As always a race with no speed to be seen ended up being run at a decent tempo.
Thanks again Malua and feel free to get some of your selections up here mate, i'm sure the'll be greatly appreciated.

Hey, are you going to enter a stable in the Fantasy Racing comp???
maverick1993
1st August 2005, 06:57 PM
wow 1 from 10 the last 2 days ..i'm on fire :)
Petrol head did well to stick on i thought for 4th ..ridden upside down ..but had the wide alley so he probably had to go forward...would of liked to see him have a breather though..he seemed to roll along at a decent tempo..
Fords Creek 4th again...had his chance i thought...but the distance is alittle to far for him..
Legends of Ace ...was real confident here but beaten into 2nd ..thought i had it 50m out..
Have some work to do this week,,,had such a good last week and saturday that i dont want to spoil it..
any tips guys ??? i'll probably need them :)

1st August 2005, 07:17 PM
Are you backing up on old Harry later in SWAN HILL ..
No, he had every possible in a worse field last start and couldn't win, I was with you i thought Legend of Ace looked a special, but i left the race alone because i also backed China Syndrome last start and it won for me, and i backed Bernie Done Nothin 2 starts ago and it won for me, but was also sacked after just getting there.

Umatrick !! racing tomorrow in Coffs...thought Ef on Saturday was a beter race but they must be thinking the shorter distances are they way to go ,,
he'll get the speed he needs here because Volcanic Scene will roll along at his usual tempo..
Umatrick likes the track,,,the long straight there obviously suits...hes got a bit of weight but hes just flying ...
think Mr Tibula and Sarah Covet at odds could place..,,,volcanic scene might be left alone in front ..this worries me alittle ...as he'll be hard to catch if he dictates..
Confident here .
Langfibian...this horse is alittle flyer...she should jump to the front here and might be to nippy for them..Galibye and Postcard Bandit are the only ones i'd be worried about,,,
Strategic Plan ...liked his last run against Sixpound ect..he did all the work up front and was in it to the last 50m,,,,he'll get the same here in this race which i think is easier ...Collless is in good form ...he'll get him home..
These are my three for the day .
Go Umatrick :)

Good move as he never got into it...he seems to attract support does old Harry....one of those types who just needs to much luck in running ...heartbreakers they are,,,,but when they do win its usually at nice odds and they do it easy...hard to catch though..
Legends of Ace looked real good..thought the 4.20 was huge value ..
always another though ..

2nd August 2005, 01:24 AM
I know exactly what you mean Mav. St Basil is a perfect example, there runs always look to be fantastic because they are flashing home, but a horse who's done plenty of work and works to the line nicely is what i prefer. I get caught out a bit, like with Miss Starnee and Opio Miss, a couple from this thread. But there is nothing better then being on them when they are winding up and you know how strong they can finish.

Don't forget concular also. Backed him two starts back when he came from the back of the field to score paying 6 dollars. Then last start beaten by the narrowest of margins by Terrace, would have payed the same dough. Plus poetic papal on the weekend which gave me the quinella, 3.80 the place. Someone please explain to me how that horse started at over $10..??
Cheers

I was on Poetic Papal as well TS ,,and Consular..
i thought the same as you with Poetic.. he must of lost a leg or something...great run in the ramornie . weird how it goes...thought the $5 about dance hero on the weekend was incredible overs as well..
Umatrick scratched again ?? wonder whats going on ..anyone know ??
Strategic plan at odds on...ridiculous for horse who just battles away and is up in grade ,,saved my cash there..
Have Langfibian in the next ...postcard bandit has the support but he just finds it tough to win..hopefully they keep coming for him and Langfibian gets to 6's maybe..
Sarah Covet is a roughie i liked in umatricks race ...i see that Radio Tab has put the kiss of death on it though....Mr tibula is also out ...which should make it easier for Sarah Covet who likes the track and the firmer surface suits.....worth an e/w if the odds are good..
also was on Shady henrietta last start but is alittle sus at the distance but worked home well last start and with no weight and a good run could win this...
I dont really rate Elite ted ..but i see he might run favourite which is good..
will back Sarah covet e/w at nice odds and Shady for the win ..
and go wide with the tri and 1st4...
fingers crossed :)

maverick1993
2nd August 2005, 03:42 PM
thought it was a good run though by mosso ...made alot of ground with that weight....stathi has recomended blinkers to spark it up out of the barriers..

As well as backing Langfibian for the win, I also took an any2 bet with it and the field, so I effectively got $2.80 for the place about it.
I realise that's not nearly as exciting or rewarding as your trifecta would have been, but I don't have the guts to take a trifecta with a banker and the field.

Just having a look at the last in coffs harbour. there is the $4 fav Lady nediym who ran 2nd behind irish player last start and secret money who was close up third. Secret money is double the odds of lady and having colless on board this time has to be worth a few lengths. Although drawn 16 it might take every bit of his ability. Worth a go at value.
maverick1993
2nd August 2005, 05:22 PM
Nice to double your money for the day..
thought Shady did the best she could...the difference was the jockeys..you could bet your life that theres no way if colless was on Shady that he would of let Elite ted out of that pocket and would of made him go around not opened it up for him....lesson learnt for little Poulus ..great ride by Colless hes in a nice purple patch of form..
Still got work to do to catch up from the last 2 days but i'm going in the right direction ..

Mr Ed,
I like to follow your tips, but Civil has won 2 of his 24 starts. Not exactly the sort of strike rate I'm too keen on!!! I admit he's been very consistent lately, but he's let punters down quite a few times in the past. Are you really confident???
maverick1993
2nd August 2005, 09:46 PM
..sometimes with those sort of horses they get that winning feeling and put a few wins together... you'll see a trainer start his horse out in the sticks in a easy race just to get some confidence for them,, usually that horse carries the grandstand but usually wins..
its a mental thing obviously with Civil as he doesnt often run a bad race..his last win was fantastic and the 2 runs prior were good also (beat Wise as an owl in one of them who won well the other day) he's full of confidence now.
I'd be keeping an eye on him..
another one like this i've been watching is Taken at The flood ..this horse had huge wraps on it and he recentlly ran in a class1 the other day..winning of course,,he then went to town last week end and ran on fairly well from a bad barrier and tempo..he seems to of regained that something that was missing and might win a few this prep..

* Super Mario...i liked the way this horse finished off last start..he really knucked down afer missing the start...with the claim and in the hope he jumps well ..he'll be hard to hold out..first time over the 1200m and i think being an Octagonal it suits him down to the ground...doesnt seem to be much in the race but these types of races are usually fairly hard...hopefully i get nice e/w odds because there are a few here they might spec.
* Johny Be Good,,,beat Madison lane easily last start,,and thats good form..i think the drop back in distance is good also..not conviced this horse is a stayer..if he leads here and dictates he'll be hard to catch..he has a problem settling in his races but the from the inside he might be able to just roll along..
*Stratagee Gee ... this horse is a speedy type with good 2nd up form ..although not in this class...but her run last start was strong and she should lead or possie up nicely here..might be a bit short for me ..but if i get some sort of price i'll be on...
Sydney
*Delta Eagle...going through the grades nicely..harder here but hes flying ...likes to get back and run on ..and theres some speed in this race..
should be nice e/w odds..as the toppy has class and they might go for it..
*Olympic James...not a world beater but the tempo set up by Gloire should suit him...he'll get the nice run and if gets clear could surprise at odds..
nice last run from a mile back against the tempo...Publicity Stunt is another that will be running on hard..
*Skittles...i love this horse...not just because he has a good record but by the way he fights in his races..he's been good to me,,and its a tough race so i might get some odds about him..little Fuji has been flying..
Brissie
* Papunya and Scared the 2 hawkes runners look good here...wish i could be on track to see them ..Papunya's last run was fantastic but scareds only run was good also..trialled only average but Hawkes never works them in those things anyway...the tote will lead me into one of these..
Adelaide
* Gorilla Biscuit ..go to far back last start..bungled the start...has a nice barrier and should be close to the lead..the distance will suit and the way he finished off last start looks pretty handy....Leckey is always a plus..
* Brakenbury Bill...this horse has been real good to me in the past...needs it longer but usually sprints well fresh..if theres alot of speed on could run over the top of these..
* Claretoum,,,won nicely last start..Micks got this horse flying ..like to follow mares in form..
* Lair .. poor old Lair ..he deserves a win ..great run last start from the bad barrier..hopefully gets a better run here even though he has the bad barrier again....i said i'd stick with the poor thing till he wins..so im suporting him out of pity...this is a harder race than last time ,,but you just never know..
Hopefully i'll get some value here...fingers crossed .. :)
good luck all

some good racers around 2morrow and im going in with confidence. Rain is expected in adelaide, storms, possible hail etc so I should get rained off at work and head to gawler. Doomben race 5 Not a blunder gets his chance here. Im going to give him 1 more shot. Ive been on him his last 4 or 5 starts and always get your moneys worth, he looks well suited in this field and there should be a bit of speed on early which will only help his chances. Ive got no doubt at all he will be flashing home late and providing he is ridden well should be around the mark at the post. Im still spewin he lost that photo 5 runs back paying over $100. Should be still in peak fitness and Ill just about make this my bet of the day.
Looks like I may be leaving melbourne alone at the moment, although have had a couple of winners there of late. A couple i will be looking at is Huck finn in race 6, hes had a bit of a freshen up after two solid wins over this distance. Bit harder here but should give it a shake. Serene prince looks ready to win race 5, hes had a couple of handy runs his last couple against some quality horses (wouldve give ed a scare last run) has been placed over this distance at every attempt and looks a good thing.
Moving on to adelaide, and the weather may play a part so beware of the stinkers. Im not a real big fan of the gawler racecourse, but will have a go anyway. I like double spirits in race 7. Hes up to his preferred distance and his latest runs would suggest hes getting closer and closer to a win. Has won 2 from 4 attempts over this journey, got johnson on board with the claim and has drawn well. Only concern for me would be the weather. If it really comes in Ill maybe have a couple of savers on jazzy gina and cryans colleen.
In race 8 I really like a couple here, maybe a target bet could be on the cards. Bellanto ran a good race last start not that far behind general conclusion and beat next now the start before that. Going on those two runs alone is enough to put it right in amongst it here in this much weaker field. The other one is covet in gold and there should be a bit of value. A good friend is involved in this horse and smith is pretty happy with the way hes going. He needs to race with a bit of cover, and if he is ridden to instructions should be right in it. Loftily looks well placed in sydney, boss has got the ride and should once again be there-abouts. Wont be taking anything too short though.
Hope we all line our pockets to prepare for what looks like being a great spring carnival.

Mr Ed,
I like to follow your tips, but Civil has won 2 of his 24 starts. Not exactly the sort of strike rate I'm too keen on!!! I admit he's been very consistent lately, but he's let punters down quite a few times in the past. Are you really confident???
I love them.
As you may be aware i am a big fan of maiden races, ussually their winning strikerate is not that flash either! Mav hit the nail on the head in his assesment, this horse is full of confidence and absolutely flying, haven't studied the race to much yet but it will take a good horse to beat him, especially if the track is wet. He didn't escape the handicapper, but that probably speaks volumes of the class of race he's in. Did like Nedrullah's run Mav, he may need a confidence booster himself however, been very costly to punters this prep.
Good luck getting off work tommorow L2B, what trade you in mate? My brothers a roof tiler absolutely loves heavy tracks.
I'll leave the races alone tommorow, not to keen at all. Melbourne metro races are really boring me of late, i love me provincials, and Adelaide is good.
Clean'em up tommorow gents,

Some of my thoughts:
From Sydney race 5, Collate has been going great in trackwork and he had solid form in good races during the Autumn including finishing within 4 lengths of Dance Hero. Stayer High Cee could also run a good race first up at odds. In race 7, Loftily has Superior consistent Saturday form and a good record at track and distance. Main danger is probably Skittles. In Melbourne race 2, Strategee Gee had a good win first up and a fair performance in a stronger Saturday class race behind I Want You Back. Majestic Point possibly the danger.

Summary..
Not a blunder... Raced exactly how I thought but just didnt have the finish, rattled home as expected. Thought $5 for the win was very genorous, but still made a nice profit with the $2 place.
Huck finn.... Nothing to write home about here and thats the last time he gets my money.
Serene prince..... won like the good thing he was. Odds were down from what i hoped for but a wins a win.
Double spirits...... Won like the good thing he was. Once again, $5 in the paper looked a whole lot better but couldnt go past him, another winner all the same.
Bellanto...... another winner
Loftily...... and for something different..... another winner..
Didnt break any records with the prices but CLEANED UP all the same...
Hope someone got on a few of these!!!!

Thanks for all your tips boys. I always find them a great way to start my form analysis.
In fact I have noticed that if you look at all of your tips (including Williams posted on his "private" thread) and back any horse which is tipped by more than one person ( I always back in a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio) the strike rate for the place is great and over the short time I have tried it as a side to my usual betting it has been in profit. I leave a race alone if different forum members have tipped different horses.

Hi X and all ..
I like the cup tomorrow..
Narrowed it down to 4 chances IMO Meteorite , Famous dane , Concitare ,and Rodeo Chut Out .
Meteorite is the new kid on the block .. and the one that could be something in the future,,he does alot of things wrong in his races ..he's still learning ,, but he's still winning which says hes got something special..i'll stick with him here because no other horse here has his final sprint ..
Famous Dane is alittle one paced but is a real proffessional horse ...he never runs a bad race and i think against this lot has a show..
Concitare ..i think has lost a few admiriers ..but his run last start was solid and when he failed against Extra Dollars the start before he had no chance as it was a real sit and sprint run race..
Rodeo Chut out is always consistant ..he got into a bumping duel last start when he looked to have some running in him..the starts before were all solid...
will stick with Meteorite..hes been real good to me ,,hopefully he wont be to short ...if the odds about Famous Dane are good i'll have something there aswell..
*Fine Dane is in the 6th race here ..this horse has been running on well ...this isnt a hard race for him here .. his last try at 1600m last prep he finished close up to Lorne Valley in a class 3 ..
he'll be running on but i'd want some odds about him....Mafia Don the toppy is a horse i always bag ..but the track here should suit him..but i just dont like him...hopefully everyone backs him as usual and he starts ridiculous odds again...hes got 2 from 20 ..and i wonder how many times hes started fav..
*Meanma....horse if flying along..great run last start..was super unlucky...the toppy looks the hard one to beat ,,,shes jumping up in grade sharply but i think she can do it .she hit the line like the 1200m will suit ,,hopefully nice e/w odds.
*Mr Monde...this horse cam up as a video special...expertform doesnt even list that race...not sure whats going on here..but keep an eye on him..
*Grand Merlot..i said last time i wouldnt back him unless he drops in grade..but i'm suckedin again..hes got the good barrier here so hopefully he settles alittle closer...hes also got a weight pull on the horse that beat him last time.....he'll be fitter now and should be peaking ..
*Shirvirgo...great run last start...people might think hes a risk at 1400m but his form around Uncle Shamos at that distance is good...the inside barrier is super for him..if he can dictate he'll be hard to catch..
*Dame Nellie...won very well last start...bunch of donkeys in this race that i couldnt be bothered rating....should win here but id want a price..
*Honour Kate..horse flys home for good placings all the time...but in much harder races than this one....if she cant win here send her to the breeding barn...which i think she'll be going to anyway..
Heaps of action again today.....lately ive got 3 winners from 14 selections with 7 minor placegetters..and 4 unplaced...
very frustrating..but heaps of fun...
Good luck all :)

I wont be betting on the cup but here are the 2 horses that i think will do well.

Yerevan - Good form in some nice races should come home strong.

Don't like betting in Country Cups; but I notice in today's 'Sydney Morning Herald' that John Singleton (owner) says he will happily pay $1000 for a cup of coffee at his favourite take-away coffee bar tomorrow if Zagalia wins!
Tip for or against???
The same column in the 'Herald' estimated yesterday that Singleton would have to earn $156,250 an hour to maintain his current 'BRW' rating. So the 'tip' probably tells us nothing.

Hi guys..
Liking the meeting today at Coffss
confident about Meterorite ..hopefully will get some sort off odds about him just has to get balanced in the straight to catch Famous dane who will be in it for a long way..
Meanma ...looks good also ...going to be hard to beat the toppy with Robbo aboard but i'm comnfident
Boy's talk ran well last start against Shysu ..and if shysu was in the race he'll be probably fav...in good form ..and the claim helps as does the long straight..would want some sort of price though..
the long straight should suit Planet Lover as well..this horse is an old fella but when he winds up hes hard to hold out..
Fine dane although a hard race here and bad barrier should run well again for me..would want some sort off odds though..
been tipped about Win for us in the last ..not sure yet but if i'm winning and the odds are good i'll have a go..
in an open race in the 2nd Mr Monde is a query ..tried to find the replay of his last race but couldnt..must of liked something about it though,,
In the other meets ..Shivirgo looks to good ..but will be to short..
not sure about Dame Nellie in the heavy bog...Mikdar looks good in brissie .
will leave Honour Kate alone just to costly Rugatq in the same race rates highly as well..cant seperate them so i'll just leave it unless the odds suck me in..
and grand Merlot will have something e/w on him...gets his last chance here before the glue factory gets him..
having a big go at Meteorite today ..my biggest since Consular's win ...hopefully he runs straight today :)
good luck all

I don't know if you've ever done this, but I don't mind backing horses which open up REALLY short on the TAB and get out to good odds at race time. When I first looked at the Unitab odds on the cup this morning, Concitaire was paying $1.80!!! So when I saw what it was paying at jump time, I decided to have a few dollars on. There was another one of these that I backed yesterday. Primus in the first race in Sydney opened up at $1.20 and eventually paid over $6.
Anyway, I ended up having a small each way bet on Concitaire, and also Extra Dollars as it was the Unitab Rating System selection. I should have had them both in a quinella or any2 or something.

Country Cups are always pretty hard I reckon... but being a country boy I love em... I will always put the hard earned on.. ya just never know.. Most country cups are capacity fields and anything can and quite often does happen... I am not sure that favs have a great record in CC's .. someone may know, but quite often a niced priced winner can be found... didnt find one today, but there are plenty more to come in the coming weeks and months, culminating in that Country Cup they hold at Flemmo on the 1st Tuesday in Nov.. they call it the Melbourne Cup I think, and most people will have a go in that.. in a race which is probably the hardest race of the year to find the winner... 24 average handicappers..and some real plodders ....overseas horses.. millions at stake...ANNNNND it's a G1 jeez.. and I reckon country cups are hard :)

No, there was a couple of thousand in the pool. The same yesterday with Primus. I always make sure that there's at least that sort of amount in there. I know that's not a lot compared to the eventual pool size, but these early favourites do often end up winning at nice odds.

Our horse is only 4-5 weeks away from its first run, and now with some early confidence for the trainer, this being his first win, things are looking good.

What a rollercoaster ride todays was.....unbelievable ..
*Meanma ..nearly got there ...2nd (counting the 3 in row late yesterday now 4 in a row)
*Mikdar ....same story ,,,, 2nd again (number 5 in a row ?? not funny anymore)
*Boy's talk ...yep you guessed it 2nd again ??? what the ??
*Fine Dane .... altogether now !! 2ND !!! ..( 7 in a row ) ...atleast a e/w here so a good result ..
*Planet Lover ...UNPLACED ..atleast it wasnt 2nd ...sigh of relief ..
*Meteorite ...UNPLACED and had a triple stake go at him..not sure what happened my guess is he layed in and got bashed around ..listened to the call and when i heard where he was in running i was never confident..
Gave Concitare a good wining chance in my earlier summary..had him on top in tris ect but no Extra dollars ..dam horse cost me the 1st4 aswell,,
good race this in hindsight to target bet ...with the odds like they were ..should of had a go on my 4 selections for the win ..Famous dane, Rodeo , Concitare and Meteorite ..to win $2000 or so ..just got greedy i think and went all out on Meteorite for the win ..
but 5/1 was better than i thought i'd get ..
*Win For Us ... 3rd ..just to change it up a bit..e/w here so no damage ..
just when i thought it was all over bar the shouting
*Grand Merlot gets up ..Thank you Lord ...
huge result ...huge tri a couple of times even a nice exacta a few times ..
finally a decent result ...:) woohooo

I can't talk though. I backed both Concitaire and Extra Dollars each way, but didn't bother taking any multiples at all with them. Could have cleaned up. 3rd and 4th were easy to pick.

Hi Mr Ed ..yep was heading for my biggest loss in ages before Grand Merlot got up ,,cant tell you how frustrating it got ,,4 2nds but the thing is they were all close 2nds aswell... doing my head in ..
wonder what they'll do with Meteorite ..they might send him to town ...
Sportz...yep missed the boat with Concitare ..i liked his previous runs and i knew he'd be overlooked because of his last start failure,,but the tempo was way against him there...was against him today aswell but Whitely wasnt going to let it happen again..great ride....
when concitare got up and i knew i didnt have extra dollars anywhere and after the day i was having .. i was tempted to take my bat and go home ..
.real test of character is this punting .. and i'm only a part timer ..

probably only the one tomorrow :(
Mornington R3 .. Admiral Jack..this fellow will like the longer distance ..hard to rate these types of races but he stands out on my figures ..battles along at the one pace but i can see him grinding them all into the ground tomorrow..
dont really like anything tomorrow...like to be at the track at mornington to see what Spartiate looks like ,,,has some ability this horse ...
maybe the tote will give an indication..
Orrong in Mackay looks real good ..guessing he'l be way to short for me though..
Looks like i'm pushing it uphill to get ahead this week,,,but in a week where i've had almost three times as much selections as usual and a freakish run of placings ..i should be thank full for still keeping the shirt on my back.
who knows ..if Admiral Jack gets up ..i might be in the black yet :)
any tips guys ? ..looks like a tough day tomorrow .. already looking forward to Saturday :)

Rightio, i was thinking along the same linees but was finding myself conceding good chances to a few others. One thing that caught my eye was in the winning post that said sir dans last run was dissapointing, but i think thats untrue. I thought he was pretty unlucky in the straight, became unbalanced, he probably wouldn;t have won but would have finished much closer. That was his 3rd run back from a spell making this his 4th which should see him rock hard fit. I hope they come for mastermind which i think is overated and not win...i hope.

No woz stix, it was unders in the end for mine. I thought it might sneak under the radar, but hey can't complain. I am not willing to write of Just Waytin either, that was only second start and had to do a bit of work early. I think with race experience that they might be able to get him to just settle off the pace and there should be a couple of races in him. Not saying hes a world beater though.

Stinking moral was a joke, but i'm pretty confident these horses will run well,
Adelaide Rc 1 - Dzerzhinsky, this exvictorian is a quality galloper who has put together 4 very good efforts in his 4 start career, his first start he was trapped 3 wide searching for the lead the whole way over 1400 for a very close up 3rd behind the smart Kelmania, gee it was a good debut. Jumped at a short quote at his second start when dropping back to 1100, and ran a gallant although little dissapointing 2nd. Since heading up to Adelaide, he's really going well, his first start was a very strong maiden win at Cheltenham, when did plenty of work but was far superior to rivals. His starting price that day was $1.70, though it paid $3.30 on supertab, this was due to a treble before hand that day of Ex Smerdon gallopers entering Jolly's stable, and Dzerz made it a quartet. His last run was probably his best, in a very good field he finished 2.4 lengths behind Aerated who has since won stylishly again. He overraced badly however this day and looked gone 300 out, but really knuckled down nicely and finished the race off well, in the fashion of an above average galloper. He has a year and/or a penis over most of his rivals here and looks well in after Leckey's all important 2kg claim. @ first starters who have trialled well are Perigule and Tirdlettar, i don't like trial form all that much but to be safe will be having Dzerzhinsky to run second to these 2 gallopers in exactas, the bunch to have raced don't appear good enough.
In race 6 i can't go past Civil, mav has mentioned my only 2 worries in the consistent Maui Boy and Pushing Daisies who was a little unlucky last start and should be suited by extra distance. I will be taking Civil to run second to them 2 as savers as well. I don't think i'll need them however, Civil, looks classes above this field, he has always promised so much and i really think tommorow he'll deliver. Just a little trip down memory lane, about this time last year Civil ran a very unlucky neck 2nd at Mooney Valley to the average sprinter Dandy Kid, that form kills this race and i think he's going better now.
Dzerzhinsky wants it good, Civil wants it slow, but both can adapt well, dead would be perfect.
Anyway i'll be having a red hot crack at these two, so may well need all of your sound advice, if and when they happen to lose.
Mr ed
6th August 2005, 05:17 PM
What a difference a good ride can make, the first race Leckey rode Dzerz wonderfully settling back in the small field, and he won well. Civil on the other he had up sitting three wide in the breeze the whole way, went for home far too early and got pipped near the line. The result cost me many a many slabs, still a fantastic result getting $4.80 for Dzerz, but i have an empty feeling of what should have been. I had Civil at Top flux, he was backed from $3.80 into $2.40 and clearly should have won. Next start he'll be odds on, so we've essentially missed the boat. $500 on the all up and $500 on Dzerz, was going to have another $500 if Dzerz lost but it didn't so i had Civil going to win a little more then $9,000. That's a lot of coin for a barman/uni student.

well the result was bad ..very bad..the boys are very dissapointed..
told them you cant win every week ,,,we've won so much and been so lucky that they should'nt worry about one losing day..theres always next week,,
...with Nessuno's race this was my pick but i wanted to back both Words and Nessuno but they outvoted me on it ..and i had to chose between them..
they all knew i was on Words aswell and when he won at those odds i could tell they were alittle chuffed....not my fault ,,
we'll bounce back ,,,
the local cricket club are getting shirts this year from us ..they'll have "Merlot Now Fan Club" on their sleeves...
just like the under 14's footy club had this year on their footy club jackets..always gives you the warm an fuzzies when you do something nice like that,,

Rc6 Oakpark Shannon drops back from 1200 to 1000 meters tommorow but with plenty of speed in the race she should take a sit and prove very hard to hold out down the Ballarat hill. Her last three runs have been full of merit, and in fairness against better horses then she faces tommorow. She was ridden upside down last start when attempting to lead all the way, she was gassed by pressure but stuck on really well for a close up third. Drawn (6) tommorow with D Moor on she should take a sit as she has a powerful sprint, i think she'll put up a great show at around the e/w mark.

Have a couple of interest running today.
Muswellbrook.
Race 4 no 1 Eagle hill. Had a very easy win two starts back, then wasnt disgraced in the city last start a close up 4th behind force zulu. Will definately find it easier here against a much weaker opposition. Last start it beat seaforth home and that won yesterday as Mav would know!! Although it hasnt been spelled it has had a freshen up and its first up form is terrific. Its last start was almost 2 months ago. If 3s are about im on.
Sunshine coast.
Race 7 no 2 CLANGER. Made up a lot of ground last start in dying stages behind cut a caper. Prince of ashes looks to be the danger to me after a nice run behind lord nedym. Barrier shouldnt be a problem as he should take a sit somewhere in the running anyway. He drops a couple of kilos from his last run as well as another couple from the claim of hull and id expect him to be flying home.
Good luck to all on the punt today!

I forgot one of interest.
BALLARAT 7 GORGEOUS DANCER. I am interested to see how the form in adelaide stacks up against this lot. Its last couple of runs have been super and can go on with it here. This horse cost me a many slabs as THEY say when he beat yarterbery home two starts back. Only beaten by a great run from Fall of rome last start. With dunn on board and the 2kg claim I think it can match this lot. Time will tell.
maverick1993

Musselbrook
Never Sad ..this is a good old mare..she's got the bad barrier but she drops out the back anyway..her last run was ok ,,she looked good the last 50m..She has the ability to sprint over the top of these if the speed is good..they'll be speed in this race.Strawbery Spy and few others should keep the tempo genuine....she has the right weight here....and should be huge odds..
Kalgoolie.
Mahawangsa...horse is in such good form..went up in class last start and was very unlucky..should of won ...gets to race against the same lot and i think has them covered,,,very confident here....the only down i see is the drop back to 1300m because last start he was so strong the last little bit at 1400m
..but the others have form around the 1200m so Mahawangsa will come over the top of them with a good tempo here..Dance to heaven the only worry.
Polish Prince....good thing about Kalgoolie and places like that is they most of the times run around against the same opposition..and on his last run Polish Prince with any sort of luck wins by a mile....
Knight School performed in town last start is the worry...but Polish prince will take improvement out of that last race and looks good..might even get e/w odds about him..
Maewest...her last run was shocker but she's back on her home track here..some of these are coming off way better races ...but she's shown some good ability and with some luck and the lighter weight could upset the toppy's ...would want nice e/w odds..
Sunny Coast.
Mr Kiseki ...i dont usually like beting in these small fields..but if theres a price about him i'll have alittle go...fantastic run last start where he had made up a heap of ground...he likes to get back and in this little field atleast he's not going to have any probs getting a clear crack at them..he'll be the strongest in the last 50m....hopefully they all come for the toppy and that Oh Raw oh Raw...would want 10's .
Good luck Guys...

Wildwood Princess at Balarat is worth a look at as well..
Luv2 ..i've been on old Clanger a few times..he loves it wet and just loves the track,,,think the track is good today...but its such a good track that even the good rating means that theres still alittle sting out of it....a horse in that race i like though is Sundae Jester ,,was on him in town last start and he made a up a heap of ground as per my rules i'll have to have something on him...but will be keeping an eye on old Clanger coming down the outside .
good exacts and tri race..

I'm wary of Another Gold ..can run time ..would want a price .but have Another Gold somewhere in the multis..
* Lady Breakfast...isnt racing against anything here..has a real good chance..rebelette can run but the 1200m usually sorts him out..
the others are resuming ot just out of form..

Well Done Mav, that paid huge, 2 bets 2 wins, why didn't i all up today?
Oakpark is just so honest, was hoping for a better price but a big, big day all the same. Thanks again Mav, both winners didn't quite make up for Civil, but dems da breaks. I am just doing the form for Miss Starnee's race tommorow, i'll be on her regardless, but it looks a decent field and my form study will determine how much.
Mr ed
8th August 2005, 12:12 AM
And the answer is, not to much. She looks the horse to beat, running well against better opposition then these in Adelaide. There doesn't look a great deal of speed in the race, i expect Tanna Hero to lead quite comfortably. If you knew they would go hard you'd back her till the cows come home but with the small straight here she is a bit of a risk, as all backmarkers are.
One i will be having a go at if the odds permit is Skandia. Has excellent formlines through it's second up run running 2nd behind Xaarbel, and the third horse Oak Park Shannon has obviously run well since. She was well up in class last start when taking on C3 showcase company and worked hard outside the leader, was going well and looked a chance till the final 200 where her condition just gave way, she looks better then this field here and should get a nice cart into the race from (7). Should be rock hard fit now and put up a good show. Would want $4.

That's exactly what happened and it just kept on going. Did you back it??? Paid $41 up here. Very nice. Thanks for your summary, even if your actual tip Miss Starnee didn't do so well.
Oh and well done to XPT for having it rated 3rd.

I didn't Sportz, i had it to beat Starnee in an exacta as a saver. Was unbelievable odds, as all winners have been right there around the turn. Really didn't do much damage at all, but i shoul've had even $10 on it, especially after Mavs great work earlier in the day, cheers mate. It's dynamite today going wide on the turn, but in saying that she was dissapointing and may be looking for a well deserved rest.
Skandia is at $8 at the moment, and i'm getting keener on her by the minute esp coming into (4) after scratchings. Never started on a good track, we could see a decent horse emerge.

Chew beauty, Won a stack today, thanks to Mav. Once Mav's danger was scratched i had a decent crack at Nastier at good odds. Then had a fair bit on Lady Breakfast, with 1/10th of my bet on the Lianga Bay - Lady Breakfast exacta to save, so ended up getting $1.80, not shabby. Lost a bit on Miss Starnee, the Lady 20 mins before hand, had already covered that and more. And had a red hot dip at Skandia, who was very well ridden, not quite the 8's I was optimistic about but still a terrific result. Beers are on me boys, unless Mav's already shouted.

had a good go at Nastia when i heard Another Gold was out....heard the trial times i was scared of was 900m not 1000m anyway..thanks Hawkeye..
Didnt take the shorts about Lady breaky..i just never take those odds..and Lianga Bay was enough to scare me away from her..
still a good day and very happy with 300% profit :) three days in a row ..this time last week i was 1 for 10 or something like that..
funny story ..saw the that horse Blowadogoffachain racing today and had a good laugh about the name with the boys at work....we all put in $10 and had $25e/w on the thing...came in 2rd and paid a heap...goes towards the chrissie party . .. was exciting hearing the call ..we were shouting the place down..

a few tomorrow.
Rocky
Thats Paleface....good run last start..was ridden quietly and was very strong on the line..this is the key here in this race..theres a stack of speed but mainly 1000m speed..if Paleface can just sit off them he'll run them down..
Mr amore will try and stick on ,,,good form around the smart Cindy Kate but the 1200m should sort him out..
Regimental..never runs a bad race..drops weight..has the gun jock .. and loves the track and distance..should be fitter now 3rd run back..gets all the ticks..
Rosilee Miss at odds to place..honest mare who on her day could easily beat this lot..but doesnt seem to have that sprint she once had..
Taree
Dusty Daniel...this horse is lightly raced but seems to have got over those probs...hit the line nicely last start and will improve on it..
doesnt meet much here...
dont know what to make of Dear Swanee ..nicely bred filly wanting a good track and the distance might suit..and Silver tycoon the other danger..

Superb effort Mav, Ed, had a very profitable day yesterday, thanks guys. Also backed fine sequal after winning on the earlier 'gifts' from the boys.
Dont mind Kai cibo in rocky today. Its form has been sensational at this track having won 5 from 8. Would want 3s at least and would think ill get it. Mydam twist looks to have bro covered and im willing to risk the toppy, and the rest dont look a chance. From a good barrier will be in a it a long way.
The other one ill have a bit e/w on is Laceline in the last, quoted at 15-1 in early markets. Has been getting closer every run and last starts close up 5th against bobs bid would put him right in this. Should be rock solid fit now and with pattillo back on board looks a genuine threat. Bello gino and bobs bid again the dangers, but no value there. Bello gino will start at 2s or 3s or something stupid and it only beat laceline home by half head last time.
Good luck on the punt today.

Doomben
*AintSeenNothin,,racing well..good run last start ..should of challenged the smart Winegrove ...good jockey....confident..
*Picaduke..ran well last start..battled on..nicely bred....has the inside again and scope for improvement...wont take anything to short..
*Red Pill....been a good horse for me...well placed here after taking on way harder races..not much to beat here ..
*Arrowsweep...has raced some good races against way better than this lot..scratched from Sat for this race....has weight but the good barrier and jock to offset it..
Sydney
*Bombastic..lot to like about his last win..could be something
*Blue Lyric..should be 50's ..good e/w chance though..form jock and fit..
*Dabke Dancer...gets the right distance here..could shock the toppy.
Strathalbyn
*Queen Catherine...shocking barrier but has ability this horse..good jock ..e/w
*Enter The Sandman..good strong win last start..will be improved..
*Cellay...doesnt win much.but last few runs have been good..big chance..
*Royal Opaque..made a mile of ground last start...rough show..
Melbourne
*Snappy Tom....deserves a win..been strong but found others better ...beauty world might be alittle flat ..wheres as Snappy is peaking..
*Blue Ribbons..has the blinkers..dont know what the deal is about this horse..starts short all the time..never does anything..must have something though...keep an eye on it..
*Elmatilla...just doesnt run a bad race..Moor is in form..good chance here..
*Tasman Trader..will need luck but will be flying home..Moor again..
Belmont
*City Of Ruins...huge run last start...confident..
Have alot of selections here..this is my short list.. the odds and conditions
will narrow it down..looking for value tomorrow ..Confident about most of them..especially Brissie
never confident in Melbourne though..and adealide where i'm hoping for real good odds as the barrier draws arent helping ..
Dont forget Lair ,running again tomorrow...might be short the poor thing...but has to win ..keeps atleast placing for me so i'll be supporting him again..
good luck Guys :)

Not nearly as confident as I was last Wednesday. Anyway, here's some thoughts:
SR3-2 Have No Doubt really should be winning, as he was a top run behind the very smart Assertive Choice last start. However, the price is likely to be very short today. Maybe $1.40 or $1.50 or something, so perhaps you could prefer to play around with multiples. The recent Saturday form for SR6-1 Cross Bar around horses like Midnight City, Appalachian and Prince Frederik is outstanding for today's race. Get's 3kgs off and should be a top each way bet. Main dangers are 4 Noreil and 9 Dabke Dancer. MR6-8 Solaride is a top wet tracker with 4 wins and 2 placings from 7 starts on wet tracks. She's also in very good form with a strong win last start. Main dangers could be Princess Ali and Forest Dash.
CANTERBURY
R1-1 SWING SESSION, 7 Mary Marvel, 6 Serious Savings (1,7,6 - 4,10,3)
R3-2 HAVE NO DOUBT, 1 Follows Me, 8 King Of Hearts (2,1,8 - 5,4,3)
R4-1 PFENNIG, 2 Camden, 10 China Jade (1,2,10 - 7,5,8)
R6-1 CROSS BAR, 4 Noreil, 9 Dabke Dancer (1,4,9 - 2,7,8)
R7-3 STRAMOS, 6 Celtic Flash, 1 Diavolo (3,6,1 - 12,2,5,13)
SANDOWN
R4-2 WILD CLASSIC, 9 Rubijon, 10 Fastback (2,9,10 - 1,5,11)
R6-8 SOLARIDE, 1 Princess Ali, 12 Forest Dash (8,1,12 - 2,3,4)
R7-1 GHOST PARTY, 3 Bunreba, 10 Al Tharb (1,3,10 - 2,5,6,8)

Couple at Doomben today...
Race 4 - #4 Strategic Choice...has trialled well and from the good gate will be on pace.
Race 6 - #2 Naval Seal...Again, trialled well and has been to town finishing under 3 lengths from Gumnuts, good form for a race like this....
Race 7 - #13 Tsolias...Nice win 2 back, should get nice conditions here. Might be good value with Abu Simbel and Rum Dum engaged.
Good luck All

City Of Ruins was way unders at that price..hope you guys left it alone..every man and his dog tipped that horse..
Have a few tomorrow.
Townsville
*Gold Tsumani..good run last start ..Stanley tried to go inside and just never got a clear crack at them...liked what i saw there...harder race here but he's ready now...theres speed in this race which will suit him...so does the track,
Confident..
*Express Messenger...good horse in form..not much in this race.but might be alittle short ...
Wyong
*Ducks..this has wings at the moment..fantastic last couple of runs..Nominated for the cups so they must think something of it,,,Strategic Win looks the danger and Ducks zoomed past him last time they met..
wont be taking anything to short as the drop in distance is a querry..
*Monte Dreamer...great run last start..nothing in this race,,,confident
* Dont mind Ariante in the cup but i'd want good odds to risk the toppy..
Bendigo
*Polish Sniper ...in such good form ..might be alittle nippy the last 50m for these dour stayers....but if its a mud bath it might be be a slog fest and suit those kind of horses,,,will wait and see what the tracks like,,
Northam.
* Dont Say A Word..should of won last start...lot of speed in this race which will suit...
Possible 7 selections....been a great week so far ,,hope it continues..
will try and check out the tips on here tomorrow..
Thanks Sportz..will have a look at Port Peru ...

Wyong R1-3 Port Peru was a very impressive trialler after showing nice form last season. A definite chance here. Baez is the main danger. I also like the prospects of Wyong R4-2 Philatelist. It's form suggests that today's race will be just perfect for it. However, it could be risky taking a short price in what is just a weak staying maiden. Monte Dreamer the danger. Townsville R5-1 Dini Who is in strong consistent form with an in form jockey and trainer. Good 3rd at Mackay last Friday. Dorian is the obvious danger.
TOWNSVILLE
R5-1 DINI WHO, 2 Dorian (2,1 - 5,9,3,4)
R7-4 SEA COUNSEL, 1 Trip To Manila, 5 Gold Tusmani (4,1,5 - 10,2)
WYONG
R1-3 PORT PERU, 4 Baez, 5 Avenue Girl (3,4,5 - 9,10,2)
R4-2 PHILATELIST, 1 Monte Dreamer (2,1 - 6,7,8)
BENDIGO
R6-4 PRINCE OF SCRIBES, 3 Polish Sniper, 10 Hale 'N' Hearty (4,3,10 - 9,2,13,5)
R8-11 CAPTAIN ZERO, 10 Bono, 9 Brief Alliance (11,10,9 - 8,1,4)
I also think Wyong R6-2 Fighting Fund looks very promising and is likely to win today. However, it'll probably be very short and I don't like backing horses at their 2nd career start after an impressive first start win. A lot don't seem to go on with it for some reason. So I might just watch that race.

Hi Guys ..
firstly Thanks Sportz for Port Peru :) ..love having a great start to the day ..
Express Messenger...and Gold Tusmani ...Guess who made a stupid beginner mistake at townsville today ...yes me...i didnt realise the rail was out so far ..completely overlooked it after a late one last night ...
no way i would of backed either ...makes it a very leader bias track townsville and i'm guessing by the results it was again,,,
silly silly boy....thats $1000 bucks down the drain,,,
Monte Dreamer...easy win...i dont really know what the fuss was about with phalterist or watever ..i was real confident here and really should of had a double stake go at it,,oh well....good win and a nice tri a few times..(after Port peru in the first it makes it a winning day already.. :)
Port Peru ...finally got a tip early enough to follow..thanks mate..i owe you one.....needed the 5 to get a place for the tri 25 x ..still a nice result
Polish Sniper....what was i betting in this race for ?? my ratings were all over the place..jumpers ?? horse doubling in distance from last start...track querriess ??? should of just left it alone..another mistake today..
Ariante ,,,left this one alone...silly odds .. sounded like a weird race...
Still have one more to go soon..Don't say a word..hard to beat the hot pot but i'm confident..
Good day again..2 from 5 so far ...
but as you can see i'm alittle dirty on myself for Townsville and the Polish Sniper bet..
25% up so far ...

Yeh good work guys, Mav, just looked at the replays, really like the way Tasman Trader ran and think you were very unlucky, he goes in the book. Pretty confident on one tommorow, most likely favorite, will post shortly.

Rc 3, looks a match race between Ruby Star and Marqueeta, they both ran very well same track first up on the heavy last start. Ruby beat marqueeta that day but i think it will change tommorow. She showed plenty of potential as a 2yo and then Marqueeta ran terrificly well against the creme last spring around some of the best fillies, like her strong 5 length 7th to Mango Daiquiri and Hveger, a third to Astrodame, and a meriad of other talent she has been right there with. Ruby Star also ran well in the city, but her runs failed to stack up against that of Maqueeta, and the last run of Marqueeta although being beaten by Ruby, was at least par if not superior to that horses. Maqueeta has excellent form on the Slow/Heavy ground and if there is a margin between these two i'm confident it lies with Marqueeta.
Hore Lacy has a first starter engaged in Stormy Skies, who has won his only trial on heavy. Very happy to risk however, his time was very slow, even in comparison to the fillies in his age group, and he runs into a couple of smart mares here. Serene Sun made good ground in a decent C1 last start, lightly raced and looks a top hope for multiples, although never started on a track worse then good, the rest on their recent runs simply can't win.
Good luck tommorow all, hopefully there is some $3-4 available for Marqueeta as i have a very slow weekend.

Ipswich
*Branch ..Hawkes runner fitter for the barrier trail,,,ran some nice races last prep and looks to have it over this ordinary lot..
*Medieval Time...drawn wide but so has the other dangers in this race..lot to like about his last win and looks to have come back from a long let up feeling pretty good...would want a price here with the wide barrier ..
*AquaD'or ...should be 100/1 ,,likes the distance and track..got the good barrier,,,might be worth a little e/w ..bout time i got a longshot up..this might be my fun bet of the day...
Goulbourne..
*Unlocked.....fought on well in a harder class2 last start...should race prominent and be in it for along way..
* Petrol Head ...gets the wide barrier again..hopefully they learned there lesson from last start where they led with him and ride him quietly this time..
i think the extra distance suits and all he needs is alittle luck in the straight..
would want some sort of e/w price but fairly confident..
If you dont mind the wide barriers ..Audited in the 7th looks good,,but from barrier 20 hes hard to have for me..
only the possible 5 tomorrow ....plus Mr Eds Marqueeta ...been a winning week ..after the shocker last week ..regardless of what happens tomorrow...
if you've got a special sportz or Luv2 i'll check in if i can ..
good luck guys :)

Hey mav,
Just reading your comments on the rail position. I really don;t have much knowledge on the effects of rail movements either in or out and therefore can;t really include them as a factor to base my decisions on. Any information or knowledge of the effects of moving barriers would be pretty useful. Cheers
Also do you record all your own tapes for form analysis or use an online service.

TS, Rail positions can be crucial, if the rail is in any one position, and they have been racing on it for a while it's starts to chop up and favours the outside horses. Most of the time when they move the rail out, or back in, it gives the rails 'virgin ground' and often you'll see a strong leader bias on these tracks. The problem is exponentially multiplied on softening ground.
I don't know about Mav, but i record all Victorian races onto DVD, it makes races alot easier to locate, and the quality of picture is in another league to that of the website.

Yeh was a bit dissapointed Mav, thought with her good finish she was home around the bend, was just a little flat. I'd say she would have been right there with a decent barrier after jumping decently she had to shuffle back to last to come across. Still quite happy with the run and will follow her onto a heavy track again.

Havent seen the Video Ed ..but did sound promising on the turn ...check out Medieval times run ..fantastic ..also Ledger in Goulbourn looks like being something as well..a couple to book for sure..
0 for 3 today :(
Petrol head,,ridden forward again.. the early work kills this horse ..gets a barrier and it wins ,,got excited alittle when Aqua Dor looked like placing down the straight then stopped ..oh well a fun bet but still a couple of wasted slabs ...Unlocked ,,got crowded but still seemd to have time to run on...not sure will look at the video ..
have heaps of runners tomorrow ...doing my head in trying to short list them...feel very confident about a few .

Rosehill R3-6 Pendragon is a very exciting horse which looks set to have a good spring. Top run first up. This looks ideal. Dangers are Mosso and Paratroopers. It's a top race. Rosehill R6-1 Dance Hero looks the obvious way to go. If he gets a relatively easy lead, there's no reason why he can't reproduce his last start. However, if he's pressured at all, I'm giving number 6 Carry On Cutie a big chance of an upset. She's going brilliantly on the track and may have really gone on from last preparation. I'm expecting a good spring from her. Rosehill R7-3 Collate put in a terrific performance first up. Certainly looks above average and no reason why he can't win again here. Main danger is Swick. Rosehill R9-5 Appalachian is in tremendous form and looks suited again. Shows a lot of promise. Mystery City is the main danger and Impetuous Amour could be a good roughie. Newcastle R7-1 Missile Device is in tremendous form and this race suits. Pinikahari is the main danger.

..sometimes with those sort of horses they get that winning feeling and put a few wins together... you'll see a trainer start his horse out in the sticks in a easy race just to get some confidence for them,, usually that horse carries the grandstand but usually wins..
its a mental thing obviously with Civil as he doesnt often run a bad race..his last win was fantastic and the 2 runs prior were good also (beat Wise as an owl in one of them who won well the other day) he's full of confidence now.
I'd be keeping an eye on him..
another one like this i've been watching is Taken at The flood ..this horse had huge wraps on it and he recentlly ran in a class1 the other day..winning of course,,he then went to town last week end and ran on fairly well from a bad barrier and tempo..he seems to of regained that something that was missing and might win a few this prep..
do you think i backed it ??? noooooo ..was to wrapped up in Meterorite to see anything else ...horse has given back all those winnings i've won on him now..
thought Quin was to quiet on him..Coleman really shakes him up when he rides him,,,..maybe i'm expecting to much from the big fella anyway...

Yeh bad luck mate, i thought you might have had a little on it. Tommorow, i loved the last start run of Lauren Grace from Adelaide, ovverraced badly and was entitled to drop out but went strongly to the line for 3rd. Don't know much at all about the opposition but will be on Lauren anyway.

Thanks Mr Ed ..will have a look at Lauren..
like most of my stable today ...still not sure why Mr Monde is in my stable..i must of liked something about his first run ..didnt do anything in his 2nd run..
got me stuffed ..so i'll just watch him go around with just a slab on him e/w just incase ..
Thebarefootbushman looks a good thing today but he looks like being to short..
Told a friend there were 2 sure things yesterday ..Pipkin and Dakas gem ,,was just working out that it would of been better just backing these 2 yesterday and doubled my money just like he did and then some....but i crave that action ...probably be the death of me eventually...but if you dont enjoy the game i think you'd get worse at it..
thats my 10 cents worth anyway :)
Good luck today all.

I beat your effort. I missed two good ones in a row. First off, Taken At The Flood which I had also marked down as a chance, but come Saturday morning I completely forgot about it. Then worse was to come when To Be Surprised won the next. I had backed this one at it's last two starts, but went off it yesterday. :(

Gday Mav
a bit of joy with Potent Mix... I thought about $6.5 was a fair price... Got $10.4 NSW Tab.. but otherwise a break even kinda day so far..
As for that other horror (the horse of who we don't speak) I am going to lay it until I bleed.. and then lay it some more... I would have thought Birralee was close to a good thing in that race.. What does suprise me is that I dont have the mongrel maiden on top.... It has cost me an absolute fortune.. it is the new Davidoff, promised so much delivers so little :) Good luck with it

made one error in that race in that I backed Birralee @ $4.50... Otherwise all went as planned with laying, the horse of which we will not speak... Clawed some of the cash the mongrel maiden owes me back... But I aint square with it yet. But I am determined :)

Yeh, have to post my thanks Mr. Ed. Nice priced winner there, good work as always.
Kicking myself i didn;t back potent mix and satinspin.
Didn;t get to see any of the races, but i had a crack at legend of ace early in the morning, so i am not sure what price it started at. But looked up the results - second. I thought it was a moral. Anyone see the race, any excuses?
Also had a go at bella jinksy, thought the drying track and step up in distance might suit, drawn well, didn;t figure in the placings. Anyone see the run?
Thanks to Mr Ed, it was still a winning day, could have been better if i had backed potent mix which i rated very highly then saw mav put it up - what was i thinking?
I feel like a sponge using the tips on here without giving much back, but i am still very much learning the caper and i feel its better for me to not really put that much stuff up until i am really confident that i can find a fair share of winners and not lead people down the garden path.
I know people have said it many times before but the amount of time these guys put in to contributing to the board is amazing. Maverick in particular your selections always followed by some qualifying comments are so helpful for people learning like me, especially your sturday discussions (and everyone else who puts their views aswell).
Anyway cheers fellas, you are doing a great job.

Don't worry. I've been punting for ages and I still really lack confidence. I always worry about people losing money on my tips. Yesterday, there were 2 horses races at Flemington that I liked, but I didn't have the confidence to post them on here. One of them failed, but the other one was Hillston Exchange which won at fair odds. Sorry guys.

15th August 2005, 02:24 PM
Cheers lads,
It's really no skin off my back posting the tips; i would be doing the DVD's anyway, and i enjoy the conversations here amongst other die hard race fans. Legend of Ace was very unlucky TS, just got out to late but really rattled home, the winner had skipped away by this stage however.
Don't worry about us losing our money on your tips, it is up to us how we use them, they are ussually just a great platform to initiate form analysis of a race.
Mav, great win by Potent Mix, the second horse ran a bottler aswell from last. Can't believe you weren't on Satinspin, he's been good to you, and that wasn't much of a race.
maverick1993
15th August 2005, 03:02 PM
Yeah i know Mr ed ..both Satinspin and Hillston Exchange and even plural were missed oportunities ..
was a bit lazy yesterday ..a bit hungover as well,,
i think it would of been hard to take if i had lost for the day ...but 2 good winners and tris put me way over the top so its easy to bear...
didnt even look at the fields in other races ..except the casino cup..
hope it doesnt come back to bite me .. :( especially when i get that dreaded run of outs everyone keeps telling me i'll have.....
1 losing month in 17 tells me its way over due..
If you have something you like TS and SPORTZ ..dont be worried to put it up..all of us on here implore all users of our selections to actually study the race and make up your own mind ,,,our tips should be used as a guide only
especially mine..i sometimes go for 100/1 shots..so beware..
it must be said that as far as strikerates go mine isnt that great ..1 out of 5 yesterday..i just seem to jag that nice divie and trifecta that puts me ahead..
and the incomparable tips by Mr Ed and Luv2 and more recently Sportz that are showing a massive profit for me ..
On Saturday if i take out Tycoon Rose and Rotator i'd have lost ,,
I like posting my tips on here...to me its us versus the tote and bookie ..its a very lopsided contest so we need to band together...we'd be very niave to think our Tips are being followed so much to the point its having a bearing on price..
The more the Merrier .. :)

maverick1993
15th August 2005, 06:17 PM
Rocky
*Race 3. Kenya Keep a Secret,,made up alot of ground last start and looked strong on the line ...drops a bit of weight and has a better barrier..looks like they've been real patient with this horse but its had enough runs now to discount any probs it might of had.. ...real confident for a maiden..
*Race 8. Thats Paleface..was on him last start where tempo was against and the bias...gets to a suitable distance here that he's won at before..the toppy is the hot pot..but i think Pale face can get him..
confident again and should be nice e/w odds..
Also Inversratio and Stipend rate highly but the weights a worry and the likely price..Stipend looks to of had a very hard campaign might be a risk with Mydam twist and Kia Cibo dangers,, might be a better trifecta race....InverseRatio still probably to good for these but the price will be short.
Kyneton
*Abbisinga ...doesnt handle the soft but on a dry track can realy run..against this lot with Shinn aboard and her liking for this track looks good....she needs to lead and good track but from the barrier she should have that opportunity..if it is wet the toppy and fantabulous look good,,,
Would want e/w odds..
Tamworth
Never Sad comes up as a high rater..but Galactic queen looks to good where as Never Sad has been alittle substandard of late....
might be nice exacta ..as Never Sad should be 10's atleast,
Like the 2 in Rocky...Abasinga on the dry, Fantabulous in the wet..
and might be tempted to take on Stipend with Kia Cibo but the price would have to be right...
Good luck all :)

Sportz, a handicapper always posts his/her tips as their opinion, on a take it or leave it basis. God knows there are so many things that can go wrong during the running of a a race to affect its outcome, most all of which cannot be handicapped by anyone. Not a science by any means, thoroughbred horseracing is every bit as much an art. No one is always right in this sport, nor should anyone expect you to be. You'll have good days and bad days; so be it. Such is the nature of our sport, and the sooner one realizes this the better. This is not an easy game to win, but the intellectual stimulation of it has had me addicted for many years. Post your picks; let the player decide for themself whether its a play. You bear no responsibility whatsoever in the punting practices of another. I have found your selections very useful to my overall play, and I appreciate your hard work. I salute all of the others who post their thoughts here in this fine forum also.
Regards,
Glenn

Looks like the 2 for me today at Rocky...
kenya and paleface ....both should be nice odds..
i really like Cindy Kate and if they risk her and i can get some sort of price i'll be on again...she's been good to me..
Kia Cibo ..i heard had gear probs last start ..might run a better race today ..Stipend and Mydam twist will be there to...will probably just have a play with tri's as i cant seperate them,,,
Never Sad is a worry ..her last 2 runs have been substandard but she's got the ability to beat these . oh well will watch her today with just a slab on her and wait till she shows something..maybe her maternal clock is clicking..
Good Luck all...
and check out the 100 yo running around Kyneton in the 3rd ..would be nice story if the old fella got up..

Heres a couple i have picked out:
Kyneton
Race 7
3 - Cheval De Force - Last start second, 4th run back from spell - fit, good in the distance range and doesn't mind the wet.
Race 8
10 - Jack by jill - Only win has been over 1800, handles the soft ground.
Tamworth
Race 6
3 - Bingara - Last 2 starts on slow and dead rated tracks, back on top of the ground should suit. 5th run back from a spell - should be rock hard fit.
P.s. Lets go the PALEFACE
