Cheers Slowman and Stix...stuck to the on pace runners who were coming in (mostly faves) thankfully stayed away from Lady Avonlea but Sergeant Mack and Silent Wishes (good 4th tho) were disappointing...good day but still struggling with the Eastern states punting...mustnt grumble...had a stay at home dinner...made butter chicken and rice with rotis and curried potatoes...for the ma in law!
To be honest the missus has been ill with a serious health problem so have cut back on the punting but enjoy viewing the videos and going to Belmont as much as I can...
Had a horse trial last Monday...Western Spur...is really a 1600m + runner and lacks the sort of pace required for sprints but finished on 5-6 length 5th behind winner...might start at Northam soon not sure how he will go...keep you guys posted!! :)

What's the go tonight at Canterbury fellas?
Haven't done much form but here are a few i spotted:
SR1 Redoubtablemperor
SR2 Scorched Earth and/or Tuscan Blaze. Perhaps Bondoola for the very brave, gotta be worth $5 for fun at least.
SR3 Hard to see past October Sun really, Gunamac for quinella, any2.
SR4 The Hammer, Whistling Bob and a roughie Mr Bigfoot.
SR5 Erthakit, Rose of Kings and Retract?????????? Not to sure here
SR6 Portland Spirit, Royal Ninja and Sydney City
SR7 Tough race, High Priority, Real Strike and Eastwest dancer all in with a shout.
Just a few thoughts from me, any suggestions out there to help win some $$$$$.

thanks for that... these horses are from method I was using for place betting.. hitting about 60% (the place), but i found that there were a few winners amongst them so I decided to have a closer look.. they have been hitting the winner about 1 in 3 on metro tracks, so have been showing some promise.. Lets hope it continues

only have the one runner ..Damaze in the 6th ..was hoping for 10's ,,
got Thats Paleface over the line earlier ..finally after backing him the last 2 starts..i think we're square now..
Cutting right down my midweek betting....Have had such fantastic Saturdays but i keep chipping away the good work during the week,,
2 bets max per day at full stake during the week is my new plan of attack...

Looks like an incredibly simple little plan XPT, if the basic rule is as I think it is. Don't you have a minimum number of starts though? That one in the 2nd had had just one run. I would have thought at least 4 starts would have been good???

yeah it is really... but looks can be deceiving :) There is the obvious then the not so obvious
The comment about the runner in R2 has merit, but you can miss some nice winners if you cull them out... at the moment the method works ok and shows profit with them left in the mix, si I am prepared to leave them in..
Just a thing, tho, this works well on metro, and not so well on our country tracks.. so be wary..

its Port Cup day... and I am off to the races.. The Cup is a good little race as it always is... I am leaning towards the Cup's specialist Precise Timing.. even with 60 on his back... Believe it or not he is dropping 3.5 (not taking the allowance into account) from his last outing at Newcasstle where he ran a creditable 2nd, following his brilliant win on the same track on Newcastle Cup Day. He has gone around at Port twice for a win and a 2nd had 4 goes at the distance for a win and a placing and he has the added bonus of having young Zac on board...
Of the others He's Rocking was very impressive winning the prelude and needs to be considered... Plus it is the Graham/Prosser combo which is always a plus at Port, he has had 13 goes at port for 6 wins and 4 placing, this is his first time at the distance so that is neither a negative or a positive..
The old stager Serpentine should be there abouts.. look for him to figure at the finish... The 2 'invaders' from Sydney should attract plenty of attention from punters.. The Gerald Ryan trained Calorific only just beat the ambulance home in a Welter at Randwick a couple of weeks back but the start b4 won an open Handicap at Kembla.. likes to mix his form a bit.. and way down the bottom Rogerson has snuck Scottish Laird into the field.. it's last win was a Cl4 at Hawkesbury a month ago and then ran a place in a restricted Cl6 at Rosehill a couple of weeks ago... so is in my opinion up in class a fair way
All of these horses in my opinion have claims, but I am sticking with Precise Timing... I will be yelling him home from 100 with a crownie in hand :) Now that I have given reasons for my choice watch em all fall over :)

absolutely disgraceful day... pathetic... I was extra confident about Precise Timing, so the way the day was going I had a good dip with the books at 4.2 put the cash in pocket and got out square... Absolultely appalling they other things that went around... as I said earlier that seems t o work ok on Metro tracks, but couldnt find a winner at Doomben either.. ah well.. there's the Valley tonight..

Race 1 - I like 1 STEFLARA & 5 RETAIL THERAPY here. I think one of the two should win, but the odds may not be great though.
Race 3 - I'm keen on 6 SKY RIGHT , but it seems so is everyone else. The current odds are ridiculous.
Race 4 - Tough race for me as I have 4 horses that I really like: 1 DOUBLOON, 5 SHARNA MYST, 9 FLYING ALPHA & 10 DANISIERRA. I'll probably be looking for value amongst that lot and coupling them up in multiples somehow.
Race 5 - A wide open race but I think 5 AMIANAN & 7 LEDGER are both good chances. Perhaps couple them up with 2, 3, 8 & 11 in multiples, but take care because as I said, it's an open race.
Race 6 - I do like 5 INNINGS here, but I must say that I don't usually like backing horses at their 2nd start after a great first start win. A lot of them don't seem to go on with it. For that reason, I'll be treading warily if I decide to bet here.
Race 7 - 7 KOSI BAY is top pick here, especially each way. Unlucky last start. Dangers are 3 GUNFIRE MESSIAH & 1 COALESCE . Perhaps include 4, 5 & 6 somewhere for the multiples.
Race 8 - Not keen on these races shorter than 1200m, but I think 7 BROMIDE & 8 FORESTRINO are both worth perhaps a little each way. If you take multiples, you should include 11, 5, 6 & 1.
Race 9 - Again a tough race, but maybe a small bet on 5 NEWTON'S RINGS & 10 MR UBIQUITOUS.
Best bet:
Race 3 - 6 SKY RIGHT
Each Way:
Race 7 - 7 KOSI BAY

Race 2 - If the odds are good, I may have something small each way on 3 PURPLE CHOCOLATE & 5 ELECTRIC GENERAL here.
Race 3 - 1 JADESCENT is the obvious here and really should win all things being equal. Couple her up with 2, 3, 5, 7 & 9 in multiples.
Race 4 - Won't be doing much here as I don't like these 1000m scampers. 10 MISS MOONEY MOONEY could be worth a small each way bet though.
Race 5 - I'm keen on 12 LEICA FALCON here. A very promising stayer. Any number of horses in with a chance for the multiples, so I'd advise you to watch the weather and the betting. If it rains, you should especially look at 2, 5, 7 & 8 and if it's dry, 3, 6, 7 & 13
Race 6 - I'm a big fan of 6 EL SEGUNDO, but I think the race will suit 3 PERLIN far better, so I'll probably back them both and include 4, 2 & 1 for the multis.
Race 7 - Keen on 7 GOD'S OWN here, especially each way. His form is perfect for this. I think the dangers are 4 PERFECTLY READY, 5 RED DAZZLER & 6 APACHE CAT. That's leaving out Paratroopers, but if the track isn't as bad as I suspect, then he could most certainly win. Word of warning. This race has been a good one for roughies in previous years, so who knows.
Race 8 - If it rains, I'll be very keen on 3 OUR SMOKING JOE each way here. Even if it's dry, he still has a good chance. I also think that 1 SUPER KID will end up being good odds and could be a good gamble. I'll be looking at numbers 1, 2, 3, 9 & 11 here and hoping for some value. Again, as with the Guineas, it's a race where roughies can get up, so beware.
Race 9 - 3 AQUA D'AMORE . I've been waiting for her to resume. She's been trialling very well and has an impecable first up record. 2 CRIMSON REIGN is the main danger and perhaps look at 2, 4, 10, 11 & 13 for multis.

Well, today just proves why I don't usually like to pick out single "best bets". 4 out of 4 down the gurgler, 3 finished 2nd and Just The Star was terrible. :o

Nope. Left it alone and very glad I did. I don't know why it happens, but if a horse has a very impressive win at their first career run, they often flop at their second. Must take too much out of them I guess.

Race 6 - I'm a big fan of 6 EL SEGUNDO, but I think the race will suit 3 PERLIN far better, so I'll probably back them both and include 4, 2 & 1 for the multis.

Unbelievable. I only got to hear the race, but as I was on another, I have to admit at smiling a couple of times during the race "knowing" that one of the main dangers was beaten.
Would love to see the race, but doubt it is possible....

Have a few running around te traps today..but as per my rule..only the best 2 will do ..
*Caulfield Jim..Kilmore r8 ...this horse won for me very well over in WA ..interesting he's over this way..races well first up and is an improving type and they might under estimate his WA form ...should get nice e/w odds...he's eligible for easier races and to start him 1stup in this race they must be fairly confident.
just checked the odds,,and The dam tab has tipped him on top,,means he'll be no value...would want 8's atleast..
if not i'd rather Back Moggs at Canberra r8 at 4's or better..
*Sigrun .. S/C r7 ... improving type..unlucky last time and looks a million dollars..Pattilo rides well here and suits this style of the run on horse..
other i'll be having play bets with,,,I'll wait, Reclaim, Moggs,Cellay,Lair,

I'm sorry, but I don't really have much that I'm keen on today. There are a few that I like, but there seem to be question marks over them, and there are some pretty tough races today. Also, I had a very good day yesterday and I guess I don't want to risk spoiling it by betting too much today. Blue Collar Jack has been very good to me, so I'm prepared to give him another go today. :)
Actually, my best bet all day today was Drizzle for a place in Kilmore R6, but I didn't think anyone would be interested in a place bet. And if you didn't mind short odds, I thought Willy Leica and Fox Lake were both certainties, but no prizes for picking them.
By the way, Paul Harvey has 4 rides at Northam today, and I'm pretty keen on him in R4 & R6. Might not be great odds though.

Glad i jumped off Caulfield jim...flew home ..but at that price i couldnt have him..he must be showing alot on the training track though and worth following..Gauci great in front but from behind i dont think he has the timing..
Sigrun's run was huge aswell,,a loss for me but i was impressed the way it stuck on after travelling wide the whole way..not the jocks fault he just couldnt get in..
Looks like i'm on Moggs in the last at Canberra ..

And take note of two others from down there with form around Blue Collar Jack. That's Zipping and Correct Amoondo. Zipping won again today and should continue to win races and Correct Amoondo was scratched today, but I think there should be a race for him soon.
I wish I had put a little each way on another horse that's been good to me lately.... All Pressure $24 in the Horsham Cup. Would have been nice.

kept my eye on him now for ages..hes drawn 2 good barriers in his 16 starts..he's cursed...got me a huge trifecta once when he did finally win so i feel i owe him,,i just wish he'd draw barrier oneday soon or i'll be giving it all back,,
funny track..sort of like a good dirt track,,,,, how do you rate that..
Sullivans creek has shortened a heap..huge run last time...but drawing wide on this skinny track is tough ..just ask Petrol head...
will stick with Moggs for about 4 slabs and a tri with number 1/2,3,5 ..all my winnings with my play bets today..doesnt make up for Sigrun another one of my runners who went the carpark route....but i can take a loss...i'm used to it :)

That's one of those puzzling things. There's no perfect answer. Everyone's different, but I think the common thought is that you should give horses three chances. Mav's incredibly forgiving. He seems to give them TWENTY-three chances!!! :)

Nice winner..trifecta was good to 1and 1/2 times....Stupid thing is i never had a 1st4 on...would of easily got it..with the outside and inside barriers getting placings..paid $6700 up here..

So far with my new approach 4 days with only 1 losing day which was yesterday....no beans for me tonight :)

I have Halt ...Grafton sprint..in the stable..just dont like the barrier and i'm not sure about Sircolo with the distance drop..Excellent Anne has some class but first up and with the weight ??

might have a lazy $20 on Halt and a play with the trifecta..

Well Desi, just above the text box when you post a reply, you'll see the letters B I U. Yeah, I wouldn't have claimed a trifecta win there. The 3 was rated 6th. So unless you had the 1 or 2 as roving bankers or something, it's a bit hard to work out how you could get that tri. If you boxed them, it would be too expensive to even make a profit on the race. :o

For $40 you can do: 1,2/1,2,3,4,5,6/1,2,3,4,5,6 that would be my guess its only $40.
Sometimes:
1,2,3/1,2,3,4,5,6,7/1,2,3,4,5,6,7 that is $90
on the basis of 50c bets, its relatively cheap for those who back more than $10 a race (not me).
Hmm might just have a look and see. But i would realy only be looking at backing those selections which are written out for win in the trifecta.

Good day of racing tomorrow..have a few racing but i'm trying to narrow it down..
*Marnier ..Doomben r5,, This horse has been hanging out for this distance..has no weight and races against alot of these that are unproven at the distance or out of form..Plumb's in good form...should get some odds here as he his stepping up in grade..
as for my second pick i'm going to wait and see what sort of odds i can get..and also the weather..
I'm leaning towards Captious who raced well last start,,races better 2nd up and up to a distance that suits..also i dont mind Rotoga in Adelaide..it is a maiden but that hasnt scared me away in the past..great run last start and will of improved a stack from it..

Yes there is a good day's betting tommorow thats for sure.
Race 1) Bingham has beaten the $1.2 million yearling sale horse Watsons Bay in a recent trial on the 26/9 on slow ground.
Even though i probably wont touch the race #1 seems the way to go, but would not be surprised at all if one gets up at odds, they usually do on these kind of days.
In the second race) #2 Line Account goes well at Caufield and has beaten Apache Cat two starts back and with an 80% strike rate looks to be one for the multi's for sure along with the added advantage of being trained on the track.
#3 Fallnoir has won both starts this preperation with a maiden and a C1 wins by a few lengths each time. Should be one of the leaders, but whether can withstand the pace is one thing.
#4 Clems Hope has been running good sectional times and should be thereabouts.
#5 Joie More has been racing all over the place in her two starts, but has come away for two wins, obviously we are yet to see the best out of this horse.
#6 Lancet umm not to sure about this horse really couldn't do anything when they hit the hard line in last start, and was then spelled after that race.
Im just thinking as im typing, so dont be alarmed at the waffle.
Anyways, Race 2) Im going to go with #8, #2, #7 whcih should provide some value. These horses are still getting into the racing business and some can only improve on their past runs.

Race 1 - Well, as per normal with Melbourne 2yo races, we know bugger all about most of the runners, but if you really want to bet, I think you could do worse than 2 MENTALITY. I was very keen on him prior to his first start. He was a bit disappointing, but willing to give him another chance. Obviously 1 BINGHAM is a chance as well, and as for the unraced, who knows? Possibly 5, 8, 10, 12 or 15 ???
Race 3 - Possibly a little each way on 4 FABIARNA & 9 MAJORCA here.
Race 4 - Well, I've been waiting for 10 CORRECT AMOONDO and here he is. But unfortunately for him, 5 GRAPHICAL is also in the race and it's very hard to see him being beaten. He's absolutely flying. If you don't like taking the short odds on Graphical, perhaps back Correct Amoondo each way and play around with the multis.
(5,10 - 8,4,6,1,11)
Race 5 - Not confident. Looking for a bit of value in a VERY tough race, perhaps 19 CALLER ONE & 1 PRESENTLY. Also good chances to 9, 14 & 16 though.
Race 6 - 3 of my blackbook runners in the one race, but 11 REWAAYA has to be the top pick. Despite the unusual leadup, she just looks to be something special, and I really think she should be winning. I'm also keen on 7 BEAUTY WATCH though, and she's 2nd pick. Perhaps 1600m may be a touch short right now, but I expect her to be storming home. Another one of my blackbookers is 9 EMPRESS LILY and perhaps she could be a nice longshot. Again, may be a touch short, but expect to see her running on.

Didn't end up betting, and I don't think I will bet on any Melbourne 2yo race for a few months. Just too difficult to work them out. Amazing to see a Hawkes 2yo win at such big odds.

Yep, the pressure of chasing Graphical from the outside barrier was just too much for him. Never mind, I still think there's a race for Correct Amoondo somewhere soon. Graphical was always the obvious choice for the race and in the end, the odds about him weren't too bad. As I said, he's flying at the moment.

Not sure where Empress Lilly finished, but apparently Dean Lester talked to Nick Ryan after the race and he was impressed with the run and said it was a good Oaks trial......

HAvent seen the video yet of the race..but he finished well off them..didnt like the odds and with the scratchings wouldnt of helped the tempo Marnier needs so i shouldnt of been betting in the first place... silly boy..
also had a bet on Rotoga .i see it finished 2nd...,not sure of the run yet ...

*Danzavite ,,Armidale r5...was on this horse last start where he got to far back in a leader dominated race..made a stack of ground and this race looks easier...always a little funny these Aprentice races ...but i should get e/w odds here....
I like We Can't say that in the Moe cup...looks well placed against this lot of hurdlers and inconsistent horses...also have Monte Flyer in the last at Hawksbury..jumping up into a pretty good field..but won very very well last start and is right up to these...
will see what value i can get with these 2..

Have a blackbooker from 20 Sept.
WILL IT REIGN SUNSHINECOAST R7 No.4 (Barrier 12)
Ran at Rockhampton over 1000m, when blundered the start, was beaten 1 length by Hard Wood Forest ($26), when $2,80 favourite. Has had only win over this distance, so extra 200m on last run will be ideal.
The class of horses in this field is better, so hope to get a good price ($9 pre-post). Has Yoshida for the first time and is consistent (53% placing), but win strike rate is poor 1 of 13 (should have been 2 of 13).
Having said that......I will be covering myself and probably going 1 x 2
(I know.... I know..... if I'm so confident why don't I go the nose..... Well, given he SHOULD HAVE won last start.... I still think this is a more difficult assignment....... time will tell !)

Ran at Rockhampton over 1000m, when blundered the start, was beaten 1 length by Hard Wood Forest ($26), when $2,80 favourite. Has had only win over this distance, so extra 200m on last run will be ideal.
The class of horses in this field is better, so hope to get a good price ($9 pre-post). Has Yoshida for the first time and is consistent (53% placing), but win strike rate is poor 1 of 13 (should have been 2 of 13).
Having said that......I will be covering myself and probably going 1 x 2
(I know.... I know..... if I'm so confident why don't I go the nose..... Well, given he SHOULD HAVE won last start.... I still think this is a more difficult assignment....... time will tell !)

You would think that it has its fair share of ability?..... you might think that..... he was a 16-1 outsider, at his second start (both learing the game!)........ and he's also been shipped of to the middle of nowhere - IMO he really doesn't look (to me anway) like he can string 2 together..... like I said time will tell....

I love flexi betting...i've recently opened a Nsw tab account because of it..
up here in Qld for tris and 1st4's ect we have to go whole, 1/2 or 1/4
way easier just to say number 2 with the field for $50 or whatever and get whatever that percentage works out to be.. i love it..

Flexibetting is offered by NSWTAB (next year in VIC - all going to plan!!) for exotic betting (trifecta's / First 4's and Quaddies)
1. You select the numbers you wante.g. 10 Horses in race 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10
You pick 1,2 for first, 1,2,3,4,5 for second and field for third
Cost would be $64.00 for $1 unit
2. But if you only want to spent $16 on your bet then IF IT WINS you get 25% of the final dividen i.e. $16/$64 = 25%
3. Say the final dividend for the Trifecta (lucky numbers are 1-5-9) is $400.00 then you get 25% OR $100.00.....
So instead of going 1/2 of full units you can go a % of the final cost - what ever you can afford !!
Same principle applies for First 4's and Quaddies..... good luck!

Mav, We Can't Say That is ONLY to be backed on wet tracks (preferably VERY wet tracks). As soon as I saw that the Moe track was upgraded to dead, I left it alone completely. Similarly, in the stronger class of field that it was racing today, I also wanted a wet track for Bono, so I left it alone as well.

Moggs is racing tomorrow at Wagga ,,looks well placed here ..still not sure what happened last start .when they decided to race on the Synthetic for the first time...did he choose to be scratched as he had this as plan b ??..not sure.. either way this isnt a hard race and i can't find any real competition but i'm guessing he'll be fairly short ...
Spalding wagga r2 ..another maiden but i'm game..i'd need good odds but this horse looks to be improving..last start was good first up ..condition told in the last 100..should be fitter now and ready..not many other chances here besides the top weight imo but i'm still hopefull of getting backable odds..
Paris Flyer in the Cup at Taree...how consistent is this horse..not sure of the distance but will get a good run here so should see it out .. just loves the track good Jock and barrier...i like the one week backup here and its quite obvious the trainer has targeted this race..
of course the toppy will be hard to beat ..robbo is always scary to take on but he is up in weight from his good win the other day..but deserves it after racing so well .i'm hoping the fresher legs of Paris and the weight diff is the telling factor..
So i'll be picking 2 out of these 3...so far with my new approch 4 winning days from 6 .. very happy and it looks like i'm getting that consistancy that has eluded me in the past..

I wouldn't give up on Will It Reign, missed the kick again, and then was never on the track. It obviously knows how to do everything wrong!
If it goes round in a similar class again, might be a nice EW bet.

Race 1 - If you want to take your chances on the 2yos, I think 1 ADJOURNMENT & 4 HE'S NO PIE EATER are both worth a small wager.
Race 3 - 8 ON THE MAP has found a suitable race now after running in the Spring Champion last start. 1 EUROPA has very good provincial form and is equal top pick.
(8,1,3,4 - 9,10)
Race 5 - Open race. I expect 4 KINCHARM to improve on it's first up effort and should be a strong chance here. 1 HIT THE ROAD is also a good chance first up.
(4,1,6,9 - 3,5)
Race 8 - The very promising 8 BREAK THE VAULT goes around here. Terrific first up win. Set to go on with it. 1 LORD OF THE LAND is now ready though and is a definite danger.

Race 2 - Not totally keen here, but perhaps you could look for a bit of value around numbers 3, 6, 8 & 10. Maybe 3 ALIKE & 6 ROUBECHON each way.

Race 4 - 1 ASTRONOMIA certainly looks the goods here. The Sydney form around her is terrific. Looking pretty good for the Oaks. Perhaps the danger could be 6 SATIN CHOICE. The dry track suits.

Race 6 - 4 ACTIVATION* looks the winner here. Great win last start. He wouldn't have been out of place at all in the Caulfield Cup. Ignore the last start of 3 SHE'S JUSTA TAD. She is the danger here.

Race 7 - Looks a very tough one here. Extremely open and the sort of race that could provide an upset. You could look at 3, 6, 9 & 11 however. Perhaps a little each way on 3 RAID THE ROYALS & 6 COCINERO.

Race 8 - Well, as I said last week, I'm a fan of 16 EL SEGUNDO and on ratings, he certainly looks good, but this is a Caulfield Cup and anything could happen. I must say that 9 RAILINGS was very impressive last start and looks ready to fire here. I also like 16 LEICA FALCON a lot and I see no reason why he can't figure in the finish after his performance last week. I think 5 PLASTERED & 7 SIR DEX also have a top chance. Others which you have to think about are 14, 11 & 1.

IMHO this race has to go into the too hard basket... I have 5 horses within a point of ech other ( I could be and am most likely wrong).. I cant get excited about El Segundo at the Price.. Leica Falcon, Eye Popper and Mummify along with Railings present value IMHO.

6 bucks gets 133 quinella
30 bucks returns nearly 2.7 K
