Like with Week Bix the handicapper is catching up on Nairobi
Won previous 2 over 2200 with 1.5kg under the min (carried 51.5)
Yesterday carried 55.5, 1 kg over the min
Interestingly, although beaten 3.5lens yesterday ran a faster time overall then winning previous 2

Ignoring any claims, never back a horse that is set to carry more than 3.5 kg's UP OR DOWN (strictly) from it's set weight last run. Nairobi LS 53, this start 57 (4kg's up) automatic no bet!

Verossi & Jolanta Star have ew chances. Verossi should be ok 1st-up & has early speed to overcome a wide draw. Jolanta Star will be on the pace & has a nice barrier. PERTH sensation Lords Ransom will not race in Melbourne until the spring carnival after owner Bob Peters decided yesterday against running in Saturday's Easter Cup (2000m) at Caulfield.
The Adam Durrant-trained four-year-old, who won the $130,000 Bunbury Cup (2200m) on Thursday, shapes as a future star of racing with six wins from nine starts.
"He's not mature yet and I've just been keeping him happy and racing him lightly," Durrant said.
There is considerable interest from Melbourne trainers wanting to add Lords Ransom, a potential Cups-winning horse, to their stables.
Peters has a history of sending horses to leading trainers David Hayes and Lee Freedman.
Durrant has aspirations of winning the spring riches himself, but concedes that he could lose the horse to a big Melbourne stable.
"I'd imagine Hayes and Freedman are very keen to get the horse," Durrant said.
"I train a lot of horses for Mr Peters. I'd be very disappointed to lose the horse, but I'd cop it on the chin.
"But I can assure you the horse would not be suited to being trained at Flemington. He needs his beach work."
David Hayes' racing manager Mark Pilkington admitted the stable would love to race the horse.

didnt catch the race, what happened to Jestatune !?
Extract from the official stewards report "....When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider advised that the filly had travelled comfortably in running with cover but was under pressure at the 500m and failed to run on in the straight. Trainer Mr F. Kersley advised that he was disappointed with the filly’s performance and that he will monitor its recovery on return to the stables and report any findings to the Stewards. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities, however, there were some signs that the filly is in season."
Sire Rory's Jester, most of his female progeny tend to be early bloomers, Jestatune's best may be in the past, time will tell.

Betfair has won a High Court challenge against Western Australian laws that prohibit residents placing bets using the online exchange.
In a unanimous judgment the High Court today ruled the laws were invalid and WA residents could place a bet with Betfair's exchange in Hobart by telephone or on the internet.
The High Court also ruled that Betfair could publish or make available WA race fields by telephone or on the internet between Tasmania and another state.

Disappointing again Charlie Beau. But being first up, punters will back it again next time :)
What about Vizard's win? As the caller said, under a throttlehold!
Scenic Shot win at the Gold Coast wasn't bad either

An ok meeting tomorrow, probably highlighted by the return of On the Warpath in race 2. Finished about midfield in each of his runs during the Melbourne spring, settling well back. The hot Pike to ride him.

Can't see any recent trial form but I'm sure Fred will have him primed for today. Expect another good run my Major Canny same race.

Shocking run Major Canny, Harvey looked to give it every chance. On the Warpath all the better for run, went down fighting. Assume you were on Bealair, purplepassion, hope you got plenty. Didn't ping that it finished in front of Major Canny twice previously, otherwise I would have had a saver  I'll have to do my homework better in the future!

Apparently 1 more run then prepare for the spring.
I see New Spice has been nominated for two races at Flemington this Sat, 1400m & 1600m. Nice roomy track so should do ok whichever race they choose.

Some very good horses going around at Belmont. Also in the Doomben Cup we have Scenic Shot, in Singapore there's Universal Ruler, and you can add former WA galloper New Spice racing at Flemington!
Vain Raider, Vizard, Inarticulate are amongst the new topliners in Perth. They'll be favorite tomorrow to continue on.
The Bolton Sprint, Marasco at $2.5 looks way too short with the 60kg, but maybe that won't be enough to slow him.
Another top notcher Special Reserve is in Open company for the first time, and a few others with light weights could upset.

Vaid Raider went too hard when taken on by Danana Smoothie.
Inarticulate went too bad so wanted to be spelling already! But shouldn't the trainer have seen the signs during the week?
Marasco won very well. Will be a short favorite in the Roma Cup.

re Vain Raider (Danana Smoothie) interesting stewards report "Stewards were satisfied that Jockey Pike had not permitted his mount to exert undue pressure on VAIN RAIDER and no further action was taken"

re Vain Raider (Danana Smoothie) interesting stewards report "Stewards were satisfied that Jockey Pike had not permitted his mount to exert undue pressure on VAIN RAIDER and no further action was taken"Yes, I'm nearly sure if you swapped the jockeys, i.e. Noske on Danana Smoothie and Pike on Vain Raider, the Stewards would've given Noske a holiday due to judgement error because of his inexperience. It was a talking point!

Was at the course Sat. West River Charley looked as if he had a serious problem on leaving the mounting yard as he passed the winning post. He just didnt stretch out into anything resembling a comfortable action. Ran accordingly. Surprised no vet check at the barrier.

struck its head on jumping maybe the knock did worse than the jock reported Interesting, and it wouldn't be reported in the Stewards Report. I'm sure incidents like this occur from time to time, and we never know the reason why they raced well below expected. We'll see in its next run.

Alright lets get rolling for what looks like a good card at Belmont this weekend, with the feature race being the Roma Cup,with Marasco Vs El Presidente.
Lets get some early thoughts. im going to stick with Marasco i think the class of this horse will get him well in front by the time they cross the line. Vizard looks probably the best of the day as well

Only bad luck will beat Marasco. El Presidente, Arctic Park & Royal Lott should fight it out for the skinny end of the purse.

Hopefully the track is dead at worst.
Race 4, Vizard with 58kg will be all the rage, keeps running very fast sectionals. Young apprentice in-form too.
Race 7 Roma Cup. What a popular horse Marasco has become. $2 fixed is mighty skinny in a field of 15. I'll be watching only and hoping he wins:)
