Perhaps a race for the oldies now that the track is slow. The last time 9YO ASCANA encountered a soft track he won over 2560M at Flemington. Repeat of that would win this.

The 9YO SOUTHERN CROWN can handle the slow and on Cup day did run 2nd over 2800M on the dead.

7YO IRISH CRUSADER was a good run in the Moonee Valley Cup (2500M) last start in the slow.

8YO TOSEN DANDY a bit of a query in the slow but did run a very good 2nd in the Cranbourne Cup and unsuited in the Cox Plate last start.

The youngster (6YO) HURRY ON SPEC next best. Prefers the sting out of the ground and has travelled all the way down from Kembla Grange to be in this race.

(8) TRUE COURSER finished well in Werribee Cup, form out of that was race has been good. Start before only beaten 2.2L Horsham Cup slow. (5) ZACIELO worked hard from wide draw in SAAB, battled on well. Three starts this distance for two wins. Best on dry but can handle slow. (1) TOSEN DANDY will no doubt find this much easier than Cox Plate and prior was a big run in Cranbourne Cup. (17) FORCE NINE lightly raced Zabeel gelding up in class but in good form. Slight doubt the slow.

On the subject of irish-related named horses have a strong liking for the Mayfield-Smith trained (6) Irish Crusader in the listed Bendigo Cup tomorrow. Should now be fighting fit with a handful of starts since spell. Not beaten all that far last start Moonee Valley over 2500m. Handles all track conditions but does seem to do best with the sting out of the ground. Looks a nice EW chance. (1) Tosen Dandy and (13) Soi Cowboy look the main dangers. My outsider (10) Garidar

The West Australian this morning has reported that a controlling (managing-owner Janelle Harvey's 60 per cent share) stake in Plastered was believed to be about to change hands for $1.15 million.

It is understood the deal is again subject to a vet test.

Well?! new owner/s not named but supposedly Perth based and the horse will continue to be trained by Lindsey Smith.

My outsider (10) Garidar

looking at the odds being offered for garidar more than happy to follow your lead shaun! im on!!

im on and i collected lotsaprofit.............who needs a reasonably short priced commodity to win when u have 3times the chance to collect on a roughie.....big THANYOU shaun!! :D

Been lots of value this ‘west oz’ thread and predecessors (there’s been a few!) Thanks to all those that have provided input over the years. I frequent a handful of other forums on a regular basis – a west oz thread like this just doesn’t exist anywhere else.

The West Australian this morning has reported that a controlling (managing-owner Janelle Harvey's 60 per cent share) stake in Plastered was believed to be about to change hands for $1.15 million.

It is understood the deal is again subject to a vet test.

Geez! the off again on again sale of Plastered seems to be OFF FOR GOOD.

The latest - potential controlling owner Wayne Barber has called the whole thing off after Plastered diagnosed in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago with a category 3 (serious) respiratory problem has now been diagnosed in Perth with a category 4 respiratory problem.

The future for Plastered? Well Lindsey Smith is pushing on with the Ascot summer carnival in mind but an operation to help rectify the problem hasn't been ruled out.

If they do continue on with summer carnival plans for Plastered there’s sure to be a large swag of sentimental money for him so you’d hope appropriate racing authorities would ensure he is sound enough to run before letting him do so.

Interesting dilemma! On one hand a big boost in public interest if Plastered IS part of the summer carnival and on the other hand looking after the interest of the general punting public with their hard earned on him when he races.

From an article on the web, interesting read:

Bomber Bill's win yesterday was his 22nd victory from 86 starts and the first for new trainer Maureen Harry who was celebrating her first stakes success as a trainer. Harry is Bomber Bill’s fifth trainer having started life off with Hec McLaren in WA who purchased the gelding for $31,000 on behalf of owner Vic Schlesniack at the 1997 Willaim Inglis Classic Yearling sale in Sydney.

The Kevin Heffernan Stakes was the 16th stakes success for Bomber Bill whose earnings stand at over $1.8 million. He has raced in every state of Australia, with the exception of Tasmania, been to Dubai and Hong Kong, and won three Gr 1 races, the first, WATC Karrakatta Plate, in 1998, the second, MVRC Australia Stakes, in 2001, and the third, SAJC Goodwood Handicap, in 2003.

Great effort by the Adam Durrant-trained My Thornbird to win the Northam Cup last Sunday! And great price too :) As it turned out the race was made to order for the gelding with Hooley Dooley setting a cracking pace early (at one stage was leading by as much as 12 lengths!) Sikmrex joined in approaching the turn ensuring the continued fast tempo and then the swoopers arrived with My Thornbird outstaying them all for a gutsy win. It was revealed after the race that My Thornbird was almost retired back in September after a series of disappointing performances. The trainer gave him ‘one more chance’ and fortunately My Thornbird showed enough zest for Durrant to persevere with his campaign.

Even better performance to win yesterday proxy! Perth Cup bound I believe now.
