The well bred (Zeditave / Mercurial Madam) 2yo filly Zany Lady was the fastest trial winner at Ascot on Monday. Ridden by the pontiff Zany Lady won her heat easily with a bit in reserve. Still to have her first official race start reported that trainer Trevor Andrews has a high opinion of this filly.

Elsie The Eagle the one to beat but expect will be short.
Main danger Professional Lady but slight doubt in my mind running a strong 2000.
Ser Grill last run below par but does meet Professional Lady 2kg better last they met when he went down narrowly to that horse.
Waiting for the topweight to show a return to form which would make him a solid ew chance in this.
Swift Jeune's last run behind Danny Blue full of merit and is trained at Bunbury.
Should be a good race!

The most impressive trial winner at Lark Hill yesterday was the unbeaten 3YO colt Desiarnez.
The Neville Parnham trained galloper won easily in the 2nd fastest time of the day. Has had just the one official race start winning easily over 1000M at Belmont last October.
The fastest heat winner of the day was the handy country class mare Twin City Girl. She normally races well fresh so watch for her return.
Of the other heats unraced 2YO filly Sprintess and the unraced Fimiston stallion Reign Of Fire were both impressive.
Twin City Girl resumes in the lucky last (R10) at Bunbury shortly. Up against some pretty handy types but has her admirers - currently showing $12.90 / $3.20.

Firstly let me state that I am a Desiarnez fan.
Thought after his initial race start 'this could be one out of the box'
But he has been really pushed this time around to win both starts (admittedly they have been very gutsy efforts)
Time will tell but I do hope my initial judgement is proven correct.

On the subject of outstanding efforts Johnnie Roucke could prove to be something special if his win on Saturday is any indication. Only having his 2nd race start he won with plenty in reserve but still ran 57.98 for the 1000m!! He looked very classy!

Sat 25 Feb 2006 R8#5 Secchio can turn the tables on Bold Ransom. Will now be rock hard fit and has drawn to get a better midfield run. Returned promising 103 last time. With expected higher pace on today he can improve to 106+. Danger is obviously #2 Bold Ransom (expected 105) who could be going places and watch for #4 Josie's Show to figure prominently.
Good punting

Thank you for the tip Aaron. I backed Secchio last start, yet it came second. After reading your tip, I'll give it another shot at glory. I would think Bold Ransom will start favourite but Secchio seems to be race fit and hopefully will finally find the line first tomorrow.

I backed Secchio last start, yet it came second. After reading your tip, I'll give it another shot at glory. I would think Bold Ransom will start favourite but Secchio seems to be race fit and hopefully will finally find the line first tomorrow.
I am jumping off this horse, he has now been costly to follow.

The runs of Sir Viv, Zoometric and Exchequer on Saturday suggest that all 3 will be in the finish of this race. Sir Viv made it 5 straight by winning the 2200 metre welter at Ascot on Saturday, whilst Zoometric finished a close 2nd, just ahead of Exchequer. Zoometric and Exchequer meet Sir Viv better at the weights on Sunday but you would expect Sir Viv to be improved by the run, his first beyond 1800.

Danny Blue looks nicely weighted although did notice he was scratched from Saturdays race, hopefully there's no problem.

27th February 2006, 06:40 PM
On the subject of well weighted, Main Stage is also nicely placed in the Pinjarra Cup.
Last time he met Zoometric he gave that horse 4.5kgs in weight, on Sunday just 1kg. Also met Daka's Gem on equal weights when last they met, on Sunday he receives 3.5kgs from that horse!
Both Zoometric and Daka's Gem will no doubt be fancied in the market. It will be interesting to see what price will be on offer for Main Stage should he be a starter.

The fastest heat winner yesterday was Index Case, the lightly raced 4YO won his heat easily with plenty in reserve.
Originally raced in NSW has had one start in WA - beaten fav in a C4 at Pinjarra December 05. Excuses that day as he missed the kick and received an early check. Danny Morton trains which is a plus. Might be worth a watch first few starts this time around.

Bunbury Wed...
In race 2 ex Victorian Molfetta will make his WA debut. Drawn well, apprentice claim, good first-up record and 2 good recent trials.
Race 5 we have the lightly raced Stitching Having 4th start in WA since venturing west from Victoria but importantly stepping up in distance which should suit and has a new rider (someone called Paul Harvey :D )
In race 6 we have two ex Victorian mares both having their 2nd start in WA – Dan’s Princess and Saracen Star. Both had backing first-up but were unplaced, Dan’s Princess performing best. The higher class Dan’s Princess does look the better chance of the two.
Race 7 Caulfield Jim returns from a short stint in the east and has a good first-up record.
Race 8 Captain Woodrow is another who has returned from a short stint in the east. Two starts this time in WA both strong efforts. Should be cherry-ripe for this.
Race 5 the much travelled Prince Firebolt will be suited by the extra 100M. Former NSW country galloper Forest Frolic was impressive initial short campaign in country WA October 2005 and has the benefit of 3 good recent trials. The former Victorian country gelding Charabanc was unwanted in betting first-up in WA and raced accordingly. Did race wide throughout in that race and will be fitter for this start.

LOVE THE WORLD Has been a runner-up at his last couple over 1600M and 1950M. Shows fight and stakes a claim at EW odds.
POLISH AQUA Was beaten 2.25 lens by Big Kev at his last Esperance start before heading to Perth. He has been beaten 2.50 lens at her last 2 efforts at Ascot behind Sir Viv and Golden Business over 1800M and looks hard to beat.

DAKA'S GEM Repeat of run 3 starts ago over 2200M would win this. The pontiff climbing aboard doesn't hurt either.
SIR VIV Shoots for his 6th win in succession. Looks a promising type.

SWIFT JEUNE Looks nice value at 25/1. Improved with racing and could be ready to put in a big one.

The grey Danny Blue is my tip of course :)
There's a few on the limit with good chances, and some of these should be decent odds; like Carrallen Storm, Exchequer, Swift Jeune, Universal Warrior and Zoometric.

Great odds for SWIFT JEUNE and UNIVERSAL WARRIOR in particular imo, thanks westman. Was hoping to get a bit better for Danny Blue, might wait a bit ;)
