LADYOFTHEPALACE should continue on her winning way although both SUDDEN RECOVERY & RED SOVEREIGN did make up some ground on the mare last start over 2200 & meet LADYOFTHEPALACE a bit better at the weights today.

Maiden SCENIC HEART has ability but still to put it altogether on race day.

Sudden Recovery almost an EW special on his last run! I say almost as he has disappointed over 2400M previously.

Assume the pontiff was as impressed with Ready Freddy's debut as much as I was. With Harvey's engagement likely to be a bit short for mine especially from the extreme outside barrier. But will wait a see what odds we can get.

Top effort Ready Freddy at only 2nd race start! Used up a bit early to get to lead then fought on extra well to be beaten a couple of noses!!

Thought Sudden Recovery had just got the nod but had to settle for a dead-heat for 1st. Still nice profit even with the 1/2 win divvy.

As you predicted Chiquita they didn't forget to back Ready Freddy! A lot of money lost in that close finish!! Including mine :(

True Steel is finally set to make his jumps debut at Flemington this Saturday. Nominated for both the 3200 and 3400 events trainer Robbie Laing has indicated a likely preference for the shorter race. True Steel has been schooling well although Laing was slightly disappointed with his last trial over the fences.

For those they may not be aware True Steel crashed through the second last hurdle (at his hurdle debut) and was pulled out of the race.

It was originally thought True Steel may have sustained a serious injury, but on cooling down it appeared he had escaped virtually unscathed.

Well things have got worse! He is now fighting for his life at a Ballarat vet clinic after an apparent infection has caused his hind leg to well and truly swell.

Reported on high doses of anti biotics at the moment and is in a critical condition.

Here are some interesting stats for the racing season thus far at Belmont. Might assist with your future Belmont selections.

1. Number of winners that have come from the first 5 in running at the 800M mark - 61 of 88 (69.3%)

2. Number of winners that have come from the first 5 in running at the turn - 63 of 88 (71.5%)

3. Winners that finished in the first 5 at their previous start - 67 of 88 (76.1%)

Getting in early with (7) Golly Gee. She would have won last start at Belmont but for commencing slowly, racing 3-wide until near the 800m & then laying outwards under pressure over the final bit! Blinkers off today in an attempt to have the filly settle. If she settles she will win.

after backing impaler over east headed to the track full of confidence. took the 5/2 for cape north, then the $9 electic and then $3.40 woodala. what started as a good day ended up as a very very sick one. if you backed a winner your going well. Thommo was most impressive but the race would have been interesting if b parnham had gone to the outside on electic instead of being blocked for a run from the 400m - 200m. Not sure electic would have beaten thommo but woul;d not have been much in it.

That's the question about Torrid Affair, something a form guide doesn't tell you unless you have trainer statistics which include backing up in 7days after a hard run etc etc. Otherwise looks well in with 57kg, drawn to probably settle a little closer than last week.

Torrid Affair not only had a hard run in transit last Saturday week but back in the enclosure was blowing the proverbial.

Deltamaster might improve a bit tomorrow (r2) especially if the stings out of the ground. (Bit of rain in Perth last couple of days although not a deluge)

Lip Service is weighted to turn the table on Haunts (r3). Sprited Touch some chance as well.

Believe The Cat might break his maiden (r4) but not sure how strong he can run the distance. Plenty of other chances including Birkhall & Nullagine.

The Kersley trained Secret Link hard to hold out (r5). Agree previous posts Prince of Vasac & Local Product both good chances. Fort Lavinia good chance on best.

Accept The Rose (r8) first try over distance could do well. Lady Kiseki & Red Sovereign both in good form.

More rain predicted overnight & early tomorrow but then expected to clear.

Happy punting!

Haven’t posted the grey brigade for a while so let’s give it a go today ;)

The 1st just the one Key To My Heart . That filly wearing blinkers first time.
Blinkers first time for Western Flight in the 2nd as well. Same race Travellin Soldier been placed last 2 at Belmont. In the Oaks we have Real Special who looks a genuine chance. Real Halo the 4th looks a good hope. In the cup we could easily take out the tri with Scenic Assault, River Mist & Spider Strikes. Nothing in the 6th. Likewise the penultimate. And Jungle Toy first-up in the last.

Race 5 good debut Belmont first-up from former Victorian REGAL OAMARU and suited extra distance today.

On paper agree looks that way purplepassion but if you look at the stewards report re their last meeting "SOOTY THE SWEEP slow into stride and raced wide throughout"

Telbon Gold was most impressive in winning his last start but if the pace is on Sooty will be flying home, just a matter of how much start he gives Telbon.

Kalgoorlie Today....

Race 1 sees the WA debut for former Victorian Miss Mona. All 4 placing prior to journeying west have been at Geelong. Former Victorians Ticky Ticky Tembo and Abbasinga continue on with their WA campaigns in race 2. Ticky Ticky Tembo was placed 1st run WA and Abbasinga improved noticeably at 2nd race start in WA.

Ticky Ticky Tembo ran a cheeky race DCFC! Just bloused out by the roughie Imperial Theatre.

Was anyone else impressed with the win of Lucasdemandas ?

A 2yo having his first official race start he did the work both ends of the race and ran 1:11:28 for the 1200. Ran a faster time (and final sectional) than Run Benny Run who won an open handicap later that day and just .19 sec slower than the very handy sprinter City Of Ruins who won the main sprint of the day.

Very impressive imo!

In addition to Lucasdemandas thought Ser Grill and Field Commander the horses to follow from the beaten brigade. City Of Ruins another great first-up performance.

What did you think of American Gothic's performance to win the last, Neiltown? Looked to me still scope for improvement!I agree. Won very well by 2 1/4 lengths. Now in form could continue
on with it. Will be up to a class 4 now , but worth following in a race

The fastest heat of the day was run by Exotic Nights nosing out Fire From Ice. The Key Business filly ran 59:75 for the 1000M.

Kalgoorlie Today....

Race 2 sees the WA debut of former South Aussie galloper Zoltan. Two runs in SA before going west and should give a good account in this. Race 3 former Vic Miss Mona is backing up after an improved effort last week. Obviously has backed up well after that race. Same can be said for another former Vic Ticky Ticky Tembo race 4. Race 5 former Vic galloper Get It Good is having his 2nd start in WA. Well beaten first-up but will be improved by that run & step up in distance will suit. Bit of money around for yet another former Vic Galloper Colonel Mustard last start. Better for that run.

Have doubts that Tycoon Cut will run out a strong 1200 grey sapphire but from the marble she should get a good sit (assuming the track's not too bad). One that should be at a bits of odds same race is Spirited Touch. She's still a maiden but will run out a strong 1200. Wet track form not that flash.

Eastern Standard race4 gets his chance to add another metro race to his collection. Will appreciate the likely rain affected track and the 3kg claim for D’Yan Masdil. Despite the 3kg claim D’Yan has had a lot riding experience (a couple of years mostly WA country tracks) but seldom gets a chance in the city. They’re also adding blinkers to Eastern Standard’s gear tomorrow. This too could have a positive effect.
